I put apart the Z88 I recently bought because I wanted to know why it was so noisy.

First picture shows you how much the motor was tilt in the canister. No wonder it was noisy, the motor was touching the inside of the can. Also, one of the metal clips that usually hold the fan covers was loose in the can, adding to the noise.

Other pictures show that the rubber ring that works like a damper between the motor and the can is totally shot, and how much the rotor is worn out.

My question is: I could probably put a rubber ring from a dead AP-100 motor, it would fit, but with so much wear on the rotor, and also on the brushes, should I invest time and money trying to save that motor?

THe size is ok and the six holes for the bolts are at the right place.

This said, my main question remains: is it worth the work and money to put a new bearing and new brushes? Is the rotor too much worn out or is it still good for a few years ?

Hey

You could sand the commuter pieces. They look nicked up. I'd say try plugging vacuum in with motor in vacuum and not in your hand it might quiet it down but it's a joke so laugh if necessary if not pay no creedence Antoine knows vacuums listen to him specifically this motor he worked on either ap-100 or ap-200 within the last week. He's posted on 2 or 3 threads in last 2 months on those motors. Head a man with the knowledge on this motor.
