well this afternoon I was helping someone clean out his "barn/ garage" when I stumbled upon this absolutely Georgeous Electrolux model G, it was rust red and turquoise in color with a pitted chrome paint. on the bag door was perfect for the winter season, it looked like snow. the inside of the machine however was a different story. there was a really warm feeling as the bag chamber was lined with fleece. I did not know if it ran due to all of the beautiful artwork but figured I would dig into it and see what was up.

well seeing this I guess I was a little too artsy with the description. anyway, I needed a new motor for my G and a new switch seeing that the original was shot. after a few minutes of tinkering with the motor in the destroyed machine I was able to get it running. smooth as glass the motor purrs and talk about power WOAH!!! this thing has power to spare and then some. I was a little afraid to power it up since it had not been touched in about 15+ years. and seeing that it sat for so long I feared that the bearings would be far gone, well I was totally wrong. after freeing the obstruction in between the fan and the fan casing the motor spins freely, a little bearing noise is there but not much at all, it is hardly noticable when running.

for 3 years straight I have been waiting to post this.

Wow..congrats...

I have had the same exprience with an old electrolux I have I think it is a model 12 that it took a really wide plug almost like an old electric frying pan, well I found an old cloth covered wide ftying pan cord that was in descent shape. I to figured as long as I have had that old machine it may not run either but when I pluged it in, truned the switch it pured. I do not have any attachments for my 12 but it is nice to know it actually runs.

On the throw away maching did you pitch it already? I need a tan wheel like the one that is on that back of that one.

Hello James

nothing came with the machine as it was just the machine. however I did find a rotted out hose a while back in the garage this was in. as far as restoring it, I dont think it could have happened as I would have needed a lot of time. lol
