the Electrolux Nimble? I have the opportunity to get one from the local big lots for $99 and was wondering if it is worth it, I am not one who usually likes plasti bagless vacs but this one seems to catch the eye with build quality. so before I consider it I am wondering what your thoughts are.

thanks

Mike

I own the same model as shown in the pic. I compared the swiveling feature to the Miele. The Electrolux takes more effort to swivel. It does clean very well. Since it is only a dual cyclonic model AND the pre-motor filter is only foam, you will see a small amount of fine dust come through the filter, pass through the motor, and be caught on the HEPA filter. All in all, it's a fairly decent vacuum, especially for $100. The upholstery nozzle tends to fall off, but the dusting brush hold tight. Suction is good, about 60 inches of lift at the end of the hose.

I have to comment on this...

I actually picked this up for $150 at BJs and also got a versatility at big lots for $99. The nimble is pretty good in my opinion. It does clean very well. Suction is amazing, maybe a little too strong. I set it on low carpet setting which reduces suction so it can glide across with less struggle. It's not too bad to swivel the head, you get used to it. For the price it really cleans great. Some may think its ugly but I like the futuristic look. I also get a kick out of the led headlight!

I got mine...

stupid cheap on Ebay, used maybe twice, with the box for $12...nutty good deal, "Local pick up" kept other bidders away.

The vacuum steers great, cleans well, quiet & fun to use, great lights. It is far thicker in girth than is in any way necessary & it's easy to hit your knees while vacuuming unless you adjust to the machine.

They seem to come in different colors but i have only seen this grey & black color scheme.

Like others of it's type i fear for the longevity of the many plastic tabs & such...easy to snap & suddenly you're holding the bin in with bungie cords.

I used it on an old 4' x 6' sun damaged rug that had many other vacuums of mine run on it...well the Nimble very quickly almost filled the dust bin with cooked fibers on that one rug!

There is also a very similar looking model called the, 'Precision', don't know why they even have the two they seem so close in concept, see pic & link.

I tried the Electrolux Nimble some time last year in a department store. Found it very bulky compared to the old Hoover Slalom - but the biggest fault I found with the NImble is that it doesn't clean flat to the floor and its quite heavy.

thank you for your thoughts! I am thinking about it greatly as I think I can possibly talk them down in price on the store display seeing that it looked to be the only one that they had left. the Build quality seems to be there and I tend to agree with the bulkiness of the machine. I have not tested one out and so I figured some of you would own one of these and could give a good description of what one was like. I think after I get my check I will purchase it.

thanks
Mike

I posted on this a couple of months ago. A friend of mine has one. I was using it and I didn't care for it. The attachments are not that easy to use. It is very quite and does a great job on carpet. That was about all I liked about it.

I have one

And it does an amazing job on carpets. I like the fact it turns very easily. My only gripe is the attachments aren't the best. I do like the soft dusting brush
