Your 886FH was made in April 1994. I would think that when the 992 and 993 were introduced in April 1988, the deodorant chamber was deleted from models 886 and 887.

Royal 4700 Tank

I know this is a very old thread but I came across it and decided to add mine. This is my favorite Royal, my 4700 Pony Tank. It was made in 1999 and bought new by my grandma in Jan. of 2000. She gave it to me in 2009 when I bought my first home. I have restored it to near new condition and was able to find many NOS parts for it before they were discontinued and became impossible to find. I quit using it about 4 years ago because it was just too nice to use as my “daily driver” and I was afraid I would damage it and replacement parts basically don’t exist anymore if it breaks. I now use a Royal 4600 tank made in 1995 bought on Craig’s List back in 2019 or 20 for about $30. It has the controls on the handle and the same great Panasonic PN as the newer 4700. I have bought and fixed up dozens of these over the last several years and then sell them on eBay. I don’t think there is a repair I can’t do to them given I can get parts. I really wish Royal had remained based in the US and continued producing these great canisters past 2002 or at the very least required TTI to continue to support the parts availability much longer than they did on these. My dream is to find a brand new in the box 4600 with the Panasonic nozzle or 4700. If someone has one they are considering selling I will pay top dollar. I have found a NOS 4600 made in 1993 (but it had the lackluster Filter Queen nozzle) and a 4150 commercial tank made in 2001. I just love Royal products up until they sold out to TTI, they were so well made and last forever!

The Eminence and Protege bypass uprights have alot of metal. If so, those would be my pick.

Have to say the 880 and the 235.
The 880 I have was made the month and year I was born.
The 235 has very sentimental reasons why I love it.
