It's getting grey bristles

That's bizarre - never seen them change color.
I had a couple Kirbys where their bristles just fell out, which was very odd.
Both perhaps due to storage conditions?

Unless they plucked hairs from the Old Grey Mare to make that brushroll, they shouldn't change color.

You do a marvelous job rebristling your brush rolls. That from a 102 or a 105? Just curious.

Thank You, it's a spare for my 105, I already rebristled a brushroll for my 102.
The 105 is on setting 2 for the brushroll at the moment.

I think he is referring to the hair is turning grey on the Hoover. The grey hair was a metaphor for its age.

105 brush roller assembly

You have done a lovely there Sir, does the 105 have the standard ball race bearings or did they come in with the 541?

The early 105s had wood bearings and the late 105s had felt bearings according to the owners manual.

I do see the 102, 103 & 105 brushrolls with ball bearings, the ones that I have are all ball bearing.

I know the 541 had ball bearings from the start, then again the early 541s used the same brushroll as the 102, 103 & 105 having 6 sets of bristles on each side of the pulley, the late 541s had 5 sets of bristles on the right side of the pulley and 7 sets on the left side.
