Excessive heat is the enemy:  even slow long term heat can dry skin, overcook food, and dry out rubber/plastic, filaments, etc.

So, I actually leave my cords pulled out after vacuuming for long cleaning sessions until the motor cools down, when if not done the cord would wrap up inside the machine and be exposed over and over to a warm/hot dry environment for a periods of time that would certainly cause premature cord or cord casing failure.

Model G cord rewind assembly in photo kept as parts stock.  I do not disassemble vacs to cool the cords!  That's a bridge to far!

Hey

This is almost as bad as my f&g thread. Yes wrap up your hoses are cords. It could cause disease for you. Your vacuum could transfer diseases on cord and hose. Don't be a fool wrap your tool.

Hey

I'm joking around. I had a thread f and g but I'll let you figure out what it said. No offense mine was bad and I didn't realize it. I have had kinked cords and hoses because of exposure to heat. So it's important.
