At least when it comes to mechanical things, or something to do with life, or vacuums.

One of the supervisors here was vacuuming her office prior to a meeting. The office has a Bissell Powerforce, bagged. Said supervisor didn't think it was picking up very well, so she asks her assistant. The assistant says "the bag looks full."
"Do we have any more?"
"I don't think so, we can just take it out."
At this point I yell "NO"
"The vacuum I have at home doesn't have a bag."
"Well yes" I answer "It's a bagless machine, this one is designed to use a bag."

They went ahead and used it without a bag.
Next week, I am sure, they will do a purchase order for a new vacuum. And these are Master prepared persons. Dear lord.

Intelligence and education are two different things. I’ve seen it time and time again, someone comes into the store with what was a simple problem at first, but then they messed with it, but they’re an engineer... My personal favorite was an idiot that bought a reconditioned typewriter from us, for some reason he took the some things apart and couldn’t get it back together! So he brings it in expecting us to fix this for free!! Like most morons, he had to explain that he works on car transmissions (they always have to tell us their qualifications when they bring something in all apart...). I’ve never touched this part of a typewriter before, but I had the damn thing back together after 5 minutes! HAH!

Anyway, dealing with the general public does show that a lot of people, when it comes to machines, don’t know their @$$holes from their areolas!

If you want a good example of how stupid people are, just look at Amazon reviews for the cheaper vacuum cleaners around the $20-$40 price point. Reading the reviews will make you have an anueurism.

It’s not just the cheap stuff that gets bad reviews due to stupidity, it’s also the expenditure stuff. This person gave a Kirby 1 star on amazon because it picked up a loose fiber and destroyed the carpet. What did he or she think would happen? It just leaves it alone? They either were not careful or they have VERY cheap carpet!

At the Aerus store where I work, a woman took her Aerus Guardian outside while it was raining to vacuum the patio chairs. Then, she let it sit for like a month. The motor looked like it had sunk with the Titanic, and it destroyed the cord winder.

It's true, people can be naive.


We've all seen similar type posts in any venue. People pointing out that there are other people amongst us who don't know very much about a given subject matter.

I've been on both sides of those discussions at some point in my life, and so have you.

We all have subject matters that we're geniuses on, and we all have subjects we lack knowledge on. No human covers all the bases.

I'm wondering what we hope to accomplish when pointing out how ignorant someone is about a particular matter?

I wish the people would magically acquire respectable knowledge about said subject when we point out their anemic state, but that doesn't happen.

Or are we playing a serious game of Heathers? ....cuz, I want to be the Winona Ryder character.

I wish there were like a national education forum where we could recommend people who need help.

I'm not complaining or critizing

After posting, I thought my question, and that's all it is, might be misinterpreted. That's the thing about the inter-webs...... misunderstanding of intentions and meaning can easily happen.

No, it was literally a question. Not meant to inhibit anyone.
Like I wrote, in the past, I've written similar things myself.
