wow a Bison!!!

My friend David (Fairfax88) helped me with my Kirby today, and I asked him if he'd ever used a Bison. He said funny I mentioned it because he had one sitting in the corner that was ready to go in the trash. It is in pretty awful shape, most plastic parts and the height adjust lever are broken and the cord has a short so it won't even turn on, but it's so rare that I had to share a picture. I wanted it so badly, but it was in such awful shape, and it's not like parts are readily available. So sad! Took me 45 minutes to reattach the nozzle after getting it off accidentally.... I thought the nozzle release pedal was the height pedal, but then he told me the height pedal was missing. I wanted it because I've always liked the Bison look, plus I'm from Ocala just like the Bisons were... The bag is almost too Kirby like down to the vinyl topper and the "sani-scraper".

I've seen worse that have come out nicely after a restore job. While some of the parts may be missing, such as the adjuster, it may be possible to set the height permanently. It looks like there are just a whole lot of little things wrong with the machine.......GO FOR IT!!!!

I can not advise often enough - never throw out parts machines no matter what condition - particularly vintage metal ones. If you do not care to store it away make every effort to pass the machine to someone who does care and one day it will contribute to the resurrection of a brother missing just that one essential part. It's not as if Bisons, fergawd'sake, grow on trees, even in Florida.

As hinted by Crevictool, I do hope the Bison has already been claimed and is retrieved soon.

Wow! How generous. I will E-mail you Mr. Fairfax, but I've been having a little trouble with my E-mail, so I'll just post my instructions here too.

After the machine has been completely refurbished - Please send it to Austin Texas so that I can play with it at the convention.

Well, I should have said RESTORED not refurbished. It really needs to look as if it just rolled off the assembly line with all tools wrapped and boxed just as it would have been so many years ago. Also, when you ship it - could you throw in anything extra you can find that goes with it. You can find these "extras" on EBay, sometimes Craig's list - but you might want to hurry the convention starts one week from today!
