Hey, I bought a Dyson DC40 for an utter bargain of £36. We were gonna collect at 6 PM, but she dont live at the address so she was waiting. It was the house of deceased person. Then we were getting stuck in traffic. We told her we would be like 5 mins late or so, but then she got mad and said she has an appointment to go, then she said she has to go home, like WTH. Then she relisted the Dyson! I'm fighting my case on ebay, and informed eBay. They are on my side and agree its wrong.

So whats the worst ebay experience you have had? Also what would you do if this happened to you?
Thanks 😃

I've had two

Both of them involved Lindhaus Canisters.

The first was a Lindhaus Aria Platinum, i think i paid about 400 for it, and when it arrived the bag was full, the pre motor filter was dirty, the post motor filter was BLACK and had dog hair on it so i knew debris was passing through that motor, the suction relief cover on the hose was missing so there was a constant leakage to it, and the hose had electrical issues if you moved the hose just the right way the vacuum and powerhead would shut off. Fortunately i got a refund and just that morning i went to a shop to get bags for the expected arrival and he sold me two arias, one platinum, one elite and BOTH of them were in better condition than the one that came from Ebay, i still have that Elite.

The second was a Lindhaus HF6 canister which looked like it had been used withut bags the pre motor filter crumbled at my touch, the retainer for said filter was missing, and there was hardened dirt on the bottom of the bag chamber. When i opened up the machine the motor batting was clogged with hair and dirt and then...i got it back together and both the motor and circuit board went out. I would have returned it, but i wanted to get it running as i was looking for one of these for a while. Well....it ended up in the trash i just didn't want to invest the money and i really should have just returned it while i had the change.

Damn, that sounds pretty bad. Luckily it got resolved though! I hope mine does, I still want it. She cant do this

Silly woman

Im on your side parwaz786 . If she didn't want to get rid then why did she list it? Was it cash on collection or via paypal (etc)? because if you've paid for it its yours

I bought a Miracle Mate from "Great Vacs" off eBay about 4 years ago. This seller, who still seems to sell an absurd amount of vacuums, are all about refurbishment. They site says their "service department completely go through [the vacuum] and recondition it with new parts." At least in my case, that was completely false. The canister body cord was ripped in many areas, and the power nozzle cord was completely torn out of the socket. I was able to get a refund to pay for the repairs, but I would rather not have had to do that.

Selling on eBay has led to some strange experiences as well.  Many people have no idea what a PayPal account is, and one buyer simply never payed nor responded to the claim I filed. There was one case in which I needed to file an insurance claim with Fedex. Very minor damaged occurred in transit, and I quickly refunded the buyer. Yet Fedex took awhile to take care of. I had to wait well over a month to receive the check for the damage, with very little communication in the meantime.

eBay can be a strange place.

Several years ago I bought a fully refurbished Sebo X1 on eBay that turned out to be nothing of the sort. The photos were obviously very flattering, because when it arrived I could see the seller hadn't even bothered to wipe it down. Filthy, scuffed up, screws missing from the base assembly, and - my worst nightmare - it reeked of dog. I'm guessing it was from either a house clearance or trade-in pile, and they'd simply dumped it in a box as-is and slapped a postage label on the outside.

Rather than go through the hassle of trying to return it, I stripped the cleaner down myself, gave everything a scrub inside and out with hot, soapy water and then cleaned everything a second time with bleach. Blew out the motor with compressed air, buffed out the bodywork to remove the scratches, replaced the missing screws and fitted a new bag and set of filters. By the time I was done it looked fantastic, so much so that I decided to put it back on eBay and see what it would fetch. Sold two days later for almost twice what I originally paid, and the lady who bought it emailed me once it arrived to say how thrilled she was... that's the way to do it!

I think when buying used it's wise to keep your expectations in check, and remember that some people's interpretation of "refurbished" may differ vastly to yours. Even so, there's a limit.

Thanks vacuumlover, I think I will get it cheaper this time, take a look at the pic to see why lol. Also see the description which has put many customers off buying it XD 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃

Probably my Westinghouse Unplugged

I bought it for $50 on ebay in mint condition, and fully functional. Item came with BOTH batteries trashed, a tool missing and a crack on the back of the nozzle housing. I was crushed. Luckily, the seller gave me a FULL refund and told me to trash it (and I did in fact trash the worthless thing, but kept the tools) I'm not buying vacs on ebay for a long time, if I ever do so again.

IKR, she's a saddo, and its a shame that her body part resulted in me not getting a bargain DYSON DC40!!! 😱 I thibk she will relist it again cos of her strict timing

her body part resulted in me not getting a bargain

Jumping to conclusions a bit there, aren't we?

If this belonged to somebody who has passed away, chances are the seller is already very disstressed about things as it is and for you to start shouting the odds saying you hate her and blaming it on her monthly cycle is ridiculously offensive, sexist and thoughtless.

Also, if she doesn't live near the property and getting to/from it is inconvenient, I'd say the seller is more than within her rights to specify a precise time. It's not her fault if you didn't factor traffic into your journey.

A few years ago I bought a Miele S4 from a seller who turned out to be a complete A-Hole. What he sent me was nothing like the original ad listing a "very good condition vacuum cleaner." The actual vacuum had a broken suction dial and refused to work past the last two high speed selections; tools were not as stated, a floor head was broken and the twin telescopic height tubes weren't working either.

I demanded money back, EBAY were involved but the seller ran off. He eventually contacted me again saying that if I sent the machine back, he would refund the money. By that point it was out of EBAY's hands. Very calculating! So I sent the machine back to his "home address" but it turned out to be someone else's address, or rather, a place for his vacuums to go. I think I may have seen it being re-listed a couple of times since but I tend to avoid his name.

I never did get my £100 refund or an apology and EBAY only offered partial refund as part of their buyer guarantee. But I still have his contact details and a wealth of online blog sites where I can easily drop his name. Whoops I've done it now:

Thus in turn, I avoid anything that Paul Goodwin sells from EBAY UK. (goodwin-007).

Avoid this seller completely. A few negatives on his profile SINCE does reveal that he has sold some very dodgy vacuums to other buyers.

I must point out however that this was a few YEARS ago; EBAY and PPal have improved greatly, since then.
