Is anybody in contact with Shane Mowery? His vacuumland moniker is Smow69.

We had been exchanging e-mails regarding a Regina Brush and Beat. The e-mails were flowing and now have stopped.

I have sent him 2 payments registrared mail with cash. I'm hoping all is well, but wonder why he hasn't contacted me in the last couple of weeks

I've never had any problems making purchases with members before.

Sorry you got scammed. Something as valuable as a Regina Brush and Beat would seem like something that would go on eBay since it would bring literally a fortune.

Not sure if it is the same person, I don't know him, but he has 3 accounts on Facebook if that helps anyone out. One account seems to be from 2015, another from 2016, and the most recent one was just active 3 hours ago.

My friend Bill Kirby got scammed in a similar way. He was on a facebook group with many fellow collectors, but also 'collectors' who it turned out were there to scam people. When the fake 100th anniversary Avalir came out, Bill wanted one badly (don't ask me why). A "Kirby salesman" on that particular group was offering three "new in the box" Avalir's for $500 each. Bill went to Wal-Mart and sent him the money western union. Of course, he never heard from the guy and never got his machine. It was a very high priced lesson. Never buy without the protection of paypal's guarantee that they will refund your money if the item doesn't arrive.

I too got scammed by a "member" a few years ago. I don't know if this person is on here anymore or not, as I gave up and moved on with my life, but this person was offering a very nice Filter Queen at a reasonable price. I had purchased another vacuum from them in the past, and while it took a bit to get it, I did receive it, so I felt like I could trust them to purchase another machine from them. That was my first mistake. I can't remember if I went through PayPal or not, but even if I did, they were in their infancy and didn't really protect buyers like they do now. So needless to say, I lost my money, didn't get my FQ, and got my blood pressure up dealing with it. The bright spot in this, I didn't lose quite as much as Bill did on his purchase! Maybe one of these days I'll run across another FQ, but until then.......

morale to this lesson

its never sent me wrong, but only acquire vacuums from collectors you know and have met in person and trust. if you dont know them, make sure a guard like ebay or paypal is in place just in case. you may want it badly, but if trust is an issue or you feeling like you're taking an unnecessary risk, you probably are. no matter how rare it is, its not worth being ripped off.

I tried to sell him a Dial A Matic a few years ago on eBay and he didn't want to pay me until the vacuum shipped to his house. I never sold it to him after that sketchiness.

I feel particularly stupid because I sent the original amount agreed upon, and then after he claimed he sent it, he sent me an email stateing that he hadn't realized that I was in Canada. So he had to pay more for the shipping.

I thought that was a genuine complaint, so I put more cash in a "special" thank you card, and sent it registared mail.

Never heard back.

Is there a method that we can use to at least remove his account here?
