Nice D-80!

Looks like you've got it so far, and just an hour to go. It's a beauty, hope it runs as good as it looks! Good Luck Joe!

Thanks everyone

I thought for sure that someone would outbid me at the last minute. I see DS-80s all the time on eBay and they always go for a lot more. I can't believe my good luck. Can't wait to get it.

Just paid for it

And I was dreading to see the shipping charges. It was a whopping $20. So $30 for the DS-80. Can't beat that at all. Just hope they pack it well and it doesn't get damaged in shipping. Must be Christmas in June !

Well, it's been shipped

Since its in Orange County CA, and i live in Tulare County CA, hopefully it'll get here Monday. I can't wait. I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting for Santa. :-). Please Mr. UPS man, be gentle with it.

Joe

I altered delivery

To the UPS store tomorrow, since I live alone, and there will be no one home tomorrow. I'll pick it up after work. Won't be the first time I've taken a kirby home on the bus! :-)

Received the DS-80

And it scared the hell out of me. On the plus side, it is completely original. Bag is in awesome shape. Cord is great. All trim is good.

As I'm looking it over, I notice a piece of duct tape on the fan casing. I pulled it off and sure enough there is a small hole in the case. I figure obviously the prior owner picked up something they shouldn't have and it broke the casing. I then assume the fan is probably also toast. Then I figure if that's true, since they taped up the casing, that they continued to use it with a broken fan, thus the front bearing is toast too. I muster up the courage to plug it in and turn it on. It purrs like a kitten. No vibration or roar from a broken fan and no squeal from bad bearings. Just a whistle from the hole in the fan casing. I checked the fan and it is metal, not plastic. Yay!

So now I am in the market for a new used fan casing for a DS-50/80. The rest of the machine, while dirty is not badly scratched and will buff up nicely. I expected the worst, but it came out really well. If anyone is interested, I'll post before and after pictures.

Now the Omega Handi Butler I bought on eBay, that's a different story.
