Good afternoon all,

I've been running the beta for Microsofts new version of Windows since it became available in beta, and I have to say that so far it has been a very stable system, and it looks really good too. Downloading the latest build now that will introduce Cortana (MS answer to Siri), as well as Continuum (again MS answer to new features Apple introduced in Yosemite), as well as an xBox One app. Any one else going to upgrade to Windows 10 when it is finally released later this year?

Windows 10 will be free to all windows 7 and windows 8 users which is amazing. Windows 8 Microsoft could look at as a test bed, similar with windows vista for windows 7, and the architecture in windows 8, like the metro tiles, are being carried over to windows 10.

I am looking forward to the one platform system, being a windows phone user myself.

That's true

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for users of Windows 7 and any version of Windows 8 for one year. After that, the jury is out. Popular belief is that Windows will move to a subscription based system like Office 365. If that's the case, then you will have to pay a yearly fee in order to recieve updates and new releases for the OS. I hope that's not true.

Joe, if Microsoft DOES eventually charge yearly fees for updates & new releases for changes to the operating system, then I will get rid of EVERYTHING related to Microsoft in my house & switch to Mac....permanently! Call me crazy, but I will not be rushing out to upgrade my Windows 7 desktop anytime soon. And although my laptop is due for replacement, I will be waiting to see what Windows 10 looks like in person before I buy. Don't like Windows 8 at all, nor do I trust Microsoft anymore.

I didn't upgrade to windows 8

It actually happened that I got a laptop and a desktop (both new) that had windows 8. It was shortly after that that windows 8.1 became available. So I upgraded to that. After adding classic shell (to make it look and act exactly like windows 7), I have zero complaints with 8.1 at all. And classic shell is free. Any windows 7 user could get on both my laptop and desktop and feel comfortable. And I still can easily access the metro screen if I want.....

I'm confused on the subscription based service. If this is true, that would suck! But I don't understand if that includes existing users of 7, 8 and 10 to suddenly have the start paying a subscription OR new buyers....Either way, UGH! I hope that's not true.
