will a Kirby G3 hose fit G7?

I was wondering if a G3 hose will fit a G7 Ultimate diamond, as the ends look identical. I have a chance to get a G3 hose for a couple of bucks and was hoping it would fit. Was told by a vac shop it would.

Don't want to pay the insane price of over $40 for a freaking hose! I could understand that much for one that goes to a vac with a PN, like my Filter Queen or Rainbow, but not a standard plastic hose.

I have read about the newer hoses for G5 and up not fitting the older G series, but nothing of older not fitting newer. (the vac guy I talked to said about the same thing)

found this post on the G3 hose on newer vacs, apparently I need to remove the gasket on the machine end of the hose, as the newer G series use a gasket on the Kirby itself instead of one on the hose.

G3 and G4 the seal on the fan case is different then G5 thru Sentria II. The hose for a G3 / G4 has a rubber seal on the machine end of the hose. The G5 and later hose doesn't have the rubber seal because the fan housing has the Unigasket.

BikerRay, yeah, I read that elsewhere too. Apparently I can take the seal off the G3 hose and it will fit fine.
