Wide track

I have been looking on eBay for a wide track eureka or wide track. If it was a 7 amp version I wanted the blue version. They have a blue power flite for $120. It's in okay shape but if I'm paying that much it's going to be immaculate.
There was a green esp wide path 6.0 amp motor. It's not perfect but green is similar to ds80.
I paid $45 total and that's usually more than shipping alone.
I was wondering if this esp had a transmission or if esp only had transmission on smaller motor older eureka's.
If any info on this would be appreciated.

There is NO "transmission" on this machine.

I don't know what it is about this design. It looks like a very good vacuum that has good coverage, no doubt.

When I see models like this, I don't see "widetrack" I see WIDE MOUTH vacuum.

I think it's the knob that looks like a nose and the light which says cyclops.

Oh no, here I am projecting human qualities on other objects and creatures. That's just so rare isn't it? Oh well, I'm off to watch cute cat and dog vids.

Hi Les,

This Eureka Wide-Track is not self-propelled so it does not have a transmission system. It’s basically a classic Eureka Vanguard upright with a 16” brush roll.

Sanitaire's answer to this, for the commercial market, was in the form of the 698 in 1978. That same year also witnessed both this and the ESP version being sold by Montgomery Ward, as their "Wide Stroke" line.

My friends bought their ESP new in 1965 2-speed no transmission. They were all set to trade it or toss it. That was 20 years ago. They are senior citizens and lugging it upstairs was was becoming a burden. I said keep it downstairs and get what you want for the upstairs. I now go up and vacuum for them every week or so and I'm glad they kept it, it's 15" roller gets it done in no time. I'm not sure when Sanitaires were available, but this is as close as you can get. Looks like the one you show here. Belts,bags and one set of carbons is all it's needed in 55 yrs.

The very first Eureka wide-track upright was the model 4070, which was produced from 1974 to 1976 and had the 3.5 amp motor with two speeds. Your 4050 was next in line, with the new ESP 6 amp motor.

This was Eureka's answer to the Kirby Classic 1CR, which sold like hotcakes since almost no other manufacturer had a machine with a 16" wide cleaning path.

The first Sanitaires came out in 1972. The Red Line was their most popular series, for commercial use. The 643 was among the first of their Red Line uprights.

Is this the same setup as the 7 amp motors? Would an st fill tube fit this?
I know sanitaire red line is commercial and blue line is consumer(atleast on my 667b).
My phone auto corrects adjusts my spelling. I went to two of three spelling bees. I need my old sure swipe back Google's keyboard sucks.

70’s Widetrack

This as well as your Eureka Widetrack were introduced in the mid 70’s with my favorite Eureka line, the Wild Moss Green Continental hooded uprights. This machine would originally come with a brocade boxtop green bag. Unfortunately, most of the bags were changed out at one time or another. This machine would never have had a transmission. Self propelled Eureka Widetracks would not be introduced until the 80’s. These green machines are still very hard machines to find. Mine was bought new for a summer camp that’s been around for decades, but unfortunately when they had it serviced, the bag was replaced. I also attached a couple pictures of my complete set of the Continental uprights. Very nice machine! Enjoy!

Those Continental Eurekas are goooorrrrrrgggggeous! Such a classy design with Eureka’s traditional understated elegance and sleek lines. Love chrome versions in blue too!

Thanks for all the info and pics. I really like the green eureka quartet. The bag on mine is obviously replaced and good to know what it should look like.
If it came out about 1975 that makes it 45 years old. Impressive that it's same design is used today and successful. There not about aestetics.
There is a chrome blue eureka on eBay for $149.99 but it's not a wide track. I'm excited to get the machine. I want to see how a vibra groomer one compared to vibra groomer 2 and 3.
