I was walking by and this incredibly strong gravitational pull just yanked me in the door. Next thing I know I'm standing in front of the vacuums and this Hoover WindTunnel is calling my name. I'm screaming no! no! To Kirby I must be true! Next thing I know I'm sneaking up to the checkout, knowing everyone is whispering behind my back. I'm sooo ashamed! I think I need an intervention. "Hello, my name is Joe " everyone else says "hi Joe". I say "sniff sniff, I'm addicted to vacuums". LOL!!!

Joe,

Not to feel bad, Mark has a hoover as well...it is in the attic away from all the good vacuums...

It is a bagless tempo or something like that...we joke about it all the time....not good enough to be with the rest of the collection...he tells all his friends...mine was sentenced to the attic...LOL

The bagged version of the Wind Tunnel is a great vacuum. When folks ask me what to buy, I tell them to go to Mennards and pick the the 89.00 version they sell...I think it says Tempo as well. Then I tell them to purchase the Y Filtrete type bags...can't go wrong.

It has been a Hoover week for me

First a convertible, now the WindTunnel. I already have a self propelled Concept One and a NIB Tempo. These Hoovers are multiplying like rabbits (or should I say Easter Bunnies?) :-)

I saw some refurbished Oreck vacuums for $99 a few weeks ago there. Already owning two Orecks made it easy (somewhat) to leave empty handed. ;)

They had an Oreck there too

No price on it, and none on the shelf other than the display model. I unboxed the WindTunnel last night. Couldn't even think of going to bed until I put it together. I was a little disappointed because the one on display was a beautiful metallic blue color, and mine is a metallic grey. It still looks nice, but I really was hoping it would be blue. It was the only one they had, besides the display so I guess you gets what you gets. I'm gonna take some pictures of it later today, and then put it through it's paces to see how well it performs. All in all, I think I'm gonna like it.

Wow an Oreck for 99 bucks, Ill have to check out my BigLots, Im glad you got the Windtunnel "Joe" lol. I must atted an intervention to :)

Well, I have to say

I really like the machine.  The filter isn't too bad to keep clean, and it is very powerful.  Even though it isn't self propelled, it tries to pull itself across the floor.  I've noticed that it is a little top heavy, in that if you have the handle released, it will fall over backwards unless you are holding on to it.

I was on eBay last night and found brand new genuine replacement hepa filters for it for $7.00 each.  Only thing is they are not in the package, so I took a chance and ordered a couple.   Now, when my convertible arrives this week, I will only need one more to complete my must have collection.  That is a Hoover Constellation.  I'm sure one will turn up eventually.

Well John, you are right

I said only one more to fill out my "Must have" collection. I didn't make any claims about anything else that may jump out and grab my attention. Lord knows that happens a lot. I just have to be careful because I only have a one bedroom apt, and I have to be frugal about what I pick up. It's getting to the point that if I want to get something, something else has to go. Luckily I have a few plastic vacs that I rescued and can move on to friends that need a cleaner to make room, as needed. :-) I can't wait for the convertible to get here. If it's as nice as it looks in the picture, it'll be awesome.

Well, the new filters for my new WindTunnel

arrived today, and they are genuine Hoover parts. The thing that gave me pause was when I looked at the shipping label, they were shipped from North Canton, Ohio. I know they weren't made there, but it seemed like the Hoover spirit was speaking. The spirit of Hoover is very much alive and well. I know it sounds silly, but that's what it felt like. OK, I'm patiently waiting for the nice young men in white coats to come and get me.

I think TTI Kept Hoover's Distribution center in North Canton, as it wasn't terribly old and aged like the factory. It was pretty new and state of the art for its time. I believe the address would have been Shuffle Drive?

You can see it in bing.com/maps -- they have a fabulous "birds-eye" viewer..

It's in the background. The Hoover "Industrial Park Plant" is in the foreground. That's now been sold and turned into a church. But the Hoover logo is still on the roof in this picture. The "IP" plant is where Canisters, Steam Vacs, Leadwire and Cord processing, and other light manufacturing was done. I got a tour of this plant once, and saw them doing injection molding of Elite hoods, then putting the logos on the hood via heat transfer. It was neat. The "IP" was built in the Early 70s, a few miles from the main factory. Then the distribution center was built behind the "IP" in the late 90s, if memory serves me correctly.
