WHY DO THEY NEVER LISTEN?!

If I had to choose between a Vax Swift and that Argos/Vax Essentials upright, or even their £59-99 Naked model, I'd choose the Swift - a lot heavier and they last a lot longer.

I've had to use a Swift before and had one in a student halls of residence when I was younger. They're noisy and they are heavy, but they do clean, even if they are paper pleated cone cyclones.

Narayan, The argos value range uprights are really powerful, they stick the floor well, even better than a DC04/07
They are louder though, but good value for the price. I don't like the hose however, due to it being a non stretch hose. And the cord going to the bottom of the vacuum is another disadvantage. I had a Proline UVC 18 with a better carry handle and more power

Tayyab - I had both, not at the same time though- and the first versions of them (in blue).

In my opinion the bagged upright was brilliant and a lot more powerful and easier to push than the bagless version. Plasticky yes but the hose could take 32mm tools and it lacked a dust brush. Due to its design I found a Dyson DC01 dust brush could easily slip onto the crevice tool at the back.

The main problem with the bagged upright is of course only the dust bags are available from Argos on the high street unless you shop online.

if she is

a young modern english woman she will want a dyson because all her neighbours will have one and it will look good stood just inside the front door so everyone can see it .the only bags she will be interested in are designer ones
