Who has old Hoover bags?

After the dust has settled from my recent acquisition frenzy, I'm finding myself in need of a few original Hoover bags. Does anyone out there have any spares for sale or know of any? I need a bag and appropriate bag hanger for my 543, a bag for my 300, and a bag for my new 450. The 825 could use a nicer one, but the one on it is certainly presentable.

i will tell you brandon original coffee can hoover bags are EXTREMELY rare and hard to find. i need an original 825 bag myself. when these end up on fleabay, the bags will sell for as much as a complete machine would.

it took me 4 years just to find the correct headlight lens for my 1076 convertible. i susupect it will take me that long if not longer to find a good condition original 825 bag. unless i pilfer thru another vac shop estate auction.

anyways, i can add those to stuff i look out for, but i wouldnt excpect them anytime soon realistically. when it comes to pre war machines as i discovered with my scott fezter, information is scare... parts seem to be even harder to find than info unless you dig in OLD vac shop back rooms/ basements.

I accept the terms "rare" and "hard to find" as a challenge I regularly have to come up with parts for cars and photographs that seem non-existent. Thanks for adding me to the "list" in any event. As they say, it never hurts to ask. That's how I got a gorgeous black belt lifter for my 505!

I need an 825 bag as well, sent it to someone to repair it a d never heard from him again.

Shame, although my 825 is very beaten up, the motor is the best thing about it! (anyone want a fully restored works very well 825 motor?)

As far as finhding these genuine cloth bags,

I've discovered that "fat chance" and "slim chance' mean the same thing.
I've seen folks in here who have MADE replacement bags, which are outstanding. If/when I get enough courage, I'd like to attempt the same thing. I'll get out my Singer (sewing machine) and attack making a bag.

Making the bag wouldn't be the difficult part I wouldn't think. Creating a silk screen or transfer of some sort of the original graphics would be, however. I've lucked out on Kirby bags, as far as finding new in package or otherwise very nice 500 series bags over the years. Hopefully I'll have the same luck with Hoover. Luckily my 825 and 450 both have decent original bags on them. I suppose you could call me a perfectionist, which is enough to drive a person mad when dealing with 70-100 year old ANYTHING.

I bet thats hard. Ive ensured I never get that picky about the oldies, mainly because it would probably drive me insane! I just look out everywhere for nos parts and if I find something i need, it makes my day!

Its bad enough trying to find stuff for 1980s and 1990s cleaners now, let alone a 1930s one!

Let's revive an old thread

Has anyone on here who's been successful in making their own bag for a coffee-can Hoover created any spares, or would be willing to make another one? I recently acquired a Hoover 543 in amazingly well-preserved condition, even down to the original Hoover plug. With that said, I plan to go through it and replace the extremely brittle cord, clean and grease the motor bearings, give it a quick wash and shine, and if I can find them, replace the brush strips on the beater bar. The machine still has it's factory Hoover bag that is in great condition, and I would like to keep it that way. What I'm hoping for is for someone to be able to re-create the 543 bag (minus logos, etc. as I will get them embroidered on it at a later time) so I can turn it into a great looking, useable vacuum without having to worry about destroying/damaging a nearly 90 year bag! So if you could make a bag, or have a spare, let me know and we can discuss. Thanks!

I made my own bag for my 800. The closed top bag would not be any harder to do. I was thinging of making one for my 700.
