Who Doesn't Like Summer???

I love summer...

...but this year has had lots of thunderstorms and very hot temperatures, suprising for the usually cold-climated Pennsylvania.

Noah ...

... Pennsylvania is "cold-climated"?

Really?

I grew up in Pittsburgh and EVERY summer was hot. At least a handful of days every summer the temperature would hit the triple digits.

And Pittsburgh, of course, didn't have the benefit of coastal breezes like many other cities like New York; Pittsburgh gets those weather systems that just park themselves between the mountains and stagnate for days and even weeks at a time.

I was thinking the same thing

I'm from Beaver Falls, (about 30 mi N of Pittsburgh), and summer was VERY hot.  High temps plus high humidity.  Made for some pretty hellatious (sp?) afternoon thunderstorms.

I'm from Northern Washington County, just slightly South West of Pittsburgh, and the summers are hot, there are plenty of days that are in the 90s and occasionally in the triple digits, and it seems the humidity is always 85% or higher making it seem more unbearable

Steroid Nasal Sprays

These are good for 'occasional' use, but are well known for causing 'rebound' symptoms (often worse than before), if they are used frequently and/or long-term.

Lots of people (including an 'ex' of mine) have become 'addicted' to these things.

All best

Fred, while those are lovely pictures, the Summer in FL sucks.  Hot, humid, sticky, musty, mosquitoes...  by noon, if you go to get in your car, you'll get a 3rd degree burn just touching the steering wheel or the metal button on the gearshift or the seat belt or the arm rest... it's nasty!

Are you still planning to move?

(as an aside, I got a Bernina...  a 200 that has been upgraded to a 730 (except the stitch regulator port).... still learning how to use it, but having fun with it so far)

Well Bobby

We are having some strange weather here in Chicago at the end of July. It was in the 60's this weekend during the days. The heat in the furnaces was actually kicking in. Sunny and beautiful. I am not complaining. Had all the windows open and a nice breeze through the house. I am sure if this is the same weather they are having in Dubuque, Morgan is in heaven.

I have decided not to move. I got a great new job close to the house so I am redecorating and remodeling. All bathrooms are under construction. I moved the library down to the basement and made it into a sewing room. Bought Koala furniture and am keeping the Pfaffs. Gave the Bernina to my niece. She calls it Nina. First shot. The machines go up and down with remote control. A place for everything. Great view while quilting.

Oh Fred, I'm jealous of that large cutting surface... I have to use my portable dishwasher for my rotary cutting!  I hear the Koala cabinets are the best.

I am also glad that you gave the Bernina to someone who could appreciate it since you never liked it anyway.  If I'd found the Pfaff you recommend, I would have gotten that instead because I really l liked the idea of a built in walking foot and the scanner option, but I never saw any for sale in my area that I could afford...  Which Bernina did you have btw, just curious.

Also glad that Tarantula Arms will remain Tarantula Arms :o)

Re: Summer

Every season has its own charm and need. After every winter we need summer and after every summer we need winter. We can't have only winters or only summers.

I do appreciate Spring. For me nicer than Summer. Flowers everywhere in ma garden down Town Paris. Sometime, Summer in Paris is too hot (35 to 40°C) but this is a good time to clean undressed..... like a queen of vacuum.

I suffer in summer

Here in the Carolinas, summers are long and hard--at least for me. It gets so humid you feel like you need gills to breathe and the words 'air conditioning' and 'life support' pretty much become synonymous. I spend a minimal amount of time outdoors between mid-June and mid-September. The yard turns into an overgrown weed patch and I don't care one whit about it. Once we get past the Fourth of July festivities, I start longing to hear the weather forecaster on TV say those magic words "frost in low lying areas". When at long last the crisp coolness of fall finally arrives in mid- to late October, or maybe early November, I embrace it with open arms. And when the first breath of spring--and its accompanying allergens--come calling in March, I don't wish winter's chill away too quickly because another stultifying summer is just around the corner.

That's an interesting point of view Edgar and one that I am not entirely adverse to.

Having said that, I much prefer the heat to the cold though as it means I can get out in my beloved (although overgrown) garden.
