Who can name this old Eureka Canister Vacuum???

This little guy found his way into our shop the other day so we had one of our best vacuum testers try it out in the office! Anyone wanna take a stab at the name and model? And, for bonus points, the years of production!?

it is a Eureka Princess......

ill trade the bonus points for year, for color. its from the mid 80's and its in the famous Eureka Brandywine color....this was one of the last incarnations of the Princess, budget canister.

Is that a Princess?

I always thought that design was called the Prince, with the Princess being a little smaller, with the carrying handle built into the top center of the canister housing, rather than up front where the hose connector is, as well as being wider at the front than the rear. But then, I could be wrong.

The design I'm referring to is the same as the least expensive model on this catalog page.

All the Eureka canisters that take the Style "H" bags are called Princesses, even the "turtle shell" version! So the brandywine version at the start of this thread is definitely a Princess (it seems to be missing the little foot pedal over the power switch).

There is a deluxe Princess called the "Prince" which is similar in shape, but it seems to have a more advanced motor - I think something about a twin-fan or something like that.

That was one of my childhood eureka princess vacuums. I used it to death, you know i'd looooove to have anoth one hint hint, if it is for sale. I have never seen another brandywine one other than mine. It's been the late 90's since mine died.

By the way, it's definitely from the early 1980's. There is a strange overlap with this machine: it's not late enough into the 80's to sport the new Eureka Company font and graphic (it still shows the famous Eureka Williams curvey "E"). But it's from late enough in the 1970's to have a Tool Pak designed to take the newer floor brush with integrated plastic elbow neck. The earlier canisters had a separate chrome curved wand that needed to be attached to the bare floor brush, and the brush stored in the top-side Tool Pak on a large "nipple" like all the other attachments.

I would guess anywhere between 1978 and 1982!

Years ago, my aunt had a very similar Eureka canister, except hers did not have the tool rack at.the rear, and was finished in a dark blue which I believe Eureka referred to as "Windsor Blue."

I used to have one very much like that. It was bright red/orange. I'm thinking it was made around 1977. Someone had given it to my grandmother, but she thought it was too much machine for her tiny one-bedroom apartment. It stayed in a closet in my parents' house for a long time until I snagged it. It was a great machine until my step-daughter decided to use it as a shop-vac to clean up a bunch of dry cat food she'd spilled. Food fragments got lodged in the motor and that was all she wrote. I wanted to try and fix it, but my (now ex-)wife insisted that was a waste of time since we had a perfectly good plastic POS Kenmore. Yet another reason that marriage didn't last.

Found this at the thrifty. Hating my (eureka)"boss" and thought this would cheer me up. But i can't figure out how to open it! The kids at the local vac shop had never seen anything like it. Cant find amanual, only parts list. Help!

It should open up at the back end, opposite the hose port.
