Whirlpool Corporation's pioneering R & D, Kirby's rebuilding/reconditioning program (begun in 1945 or 1946 looking at instruction manuals posted at https://collectingdust.com/kirby-instruction-manuals/ - Thank you, David); and other companies' efforts along with those of us who collect, sell, give, repair and recondition vintage items rather than sending them to the landfill are doing our part in
