Yikes!

If you have the owners manual to either of those Kirby's, you will see what a rebuild would cost the ORIGINAL owner.I have an Omega that was purchased in 4/30/76 and it would cost no more than 49.50 to re-condition or rebuild to original condition. Because I'm not the original owner and because it's now 46 years later,I'd be paying the current price for rebuild which I believe is around 495.00 and shipping. Still a good deal for what you get.

No owners manual

I don't have the owners manual, I found this rebuilt Kirby at a thrift store.
Something is hitting against the fan and it needs a belt on the brush roll.

I actually have a strong liking of the blue Omega. Is the handle decal marbled blue like the belt lifter one? It should be; that is what draws me to it..

I have one of these machines in a box in the shed from the Plano Kirby shop that closed 3 years ago. It is in remarkably good condition and I hope to restore it some day...

I would be a lying sack of.......

...if I said I had a favorite!

They are all my favorites! But I am slightly partial to the Tradition because of the blue color scheme and the hounds tooth cloth outer bag pattern. I don't care what they say about the short comings of the Tradition. I still think it cleans superbly! And, I particularly like the motor sounds of these second generation Kirbys. Very soothing sound in my opinion!

I like the heritage 2 and the G4 because my grandad had both he now has the avalir I know it’s not vintage but I like it and now I have one too

Favorite?

Scott,

I'd have to put an s on the end of favorite.Heritage II Legend and Dual Sanitronic 80 are two I would grab in a fire, and if I had time I would go back for one of the "500" series Kirby's. Billy

P.S. A new belt will make a big difference on your Kirby Tradition.

Rebuilt

I Know few people said my 1979 Kirby omega classic rebuilt blue edition needs to be restored. But I do have a 2008 Oreck vacuum that is restored and it was a rebuilt edition vacuum too. Go to my youtube channel Old Crankman if you want to see my restored oreck vacuum.

Whichever one I'm using

The short answer would be whichever one I'm using at the moment but when it comes to aesthetics, it would be the Heritage HD1. I'm just a sucker for the orange bag.

Scott,

I recently watched your video of your 1981 Tradition and it sounds like it has a metal fan, just like my '79 Tradition. But it also needs to have its speed switch be replaced -- it's jammed in the high speed (hose) position.

Here is a video of my '79 Tradition, to compare:

I need a new blue shake out bag

My shake out bag on my kirby omega classic needs a new blue shake out bag. The zipper is broken and I want to restore this beautiful machine.
