Hey guys, I think we've talked about this before, but out of the Hoover Convertible and the Eureka F and G style belts which is bigger? Could one be substituted for the other in a pinch? I have 6 Eurekas and only one Convertible so I always have more Eureka belts around than Hoover. I've always preferred Eurekas to Hoovers with regard to the F and G style machines versus the Convertibles or the Bravos versus Elites...

Thanks

Bobby,

I a Eureka belt is bigger and thinner than a Hoover Belt.
Using a hoover belt on a Eureka would put more strain on the motor.

I have used both Hoover and eureka belts on Eureka machines and have had no issues. I have been using these for quite a while. as far as strain on the motor yes it does put some strain on the motor but when using a 3.0 amp machine that is expected, usually I use the hoover belts on a sanitaire or an ESP due to more power

Oooo careful guys...

The Convertible belts are a great deal smaller than round Eureka belts. Using Convertible belts in a newer, plastic-based Eureka could put too much strain on both the motor, and the brushroll. I could totally see a Eureka brushroll tearing into the plastic base from the added pressure.

I do however use Eureka belts on older Hoover Uprights (pre-convertible). The convertible belts seem to be just a smidge too tight!

Yes careful

I to have switched in a pinch and never had much of a problem except that the Eureka bels slip on the convertibles making the belt wear faster. And even the stronger power Eureks it still causes more strain on the bearing and such.
At any rate I now have a Eureka belt in both of my Convertibles cause that seems to be all thats available in my area at the regular stores and I havn't had time to go to the vac store.

I find the Wally-world brand of belts SUCK, they crack and snap very prematurely. Walmrt only took back 1 of 5 packs of the Honeywell brand saying I must be doing something to them. They last about 2 weeks with 15min 1x a day use. I know those round belts CAN wear quickly but 2 weeks Ive never blown through belts that quick. When I go to the vac-shop he hands me the belt so I dont know what brand it is and it seems to last alot longer like 6-8 months before cracking badly.
Even the Home-Care(generic) brand last longer and that 2pac is 2 bucks cheaper than wall..
