WHERE IS EVERYBODY???

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Dedicated forums like this one are dying off. Most of the collectors that used to post here now post in one of the many vacuum related Facebook groups. I mostly post here to add info to the massive archive for future reference.

Hi:
I am only an occasional user, but have always been amazed at the scope of the members knowledge and the resources here. I was wondering why I only received two replies to my offer to give away a set of four re-bristled, unused NORCA roller "agitator" brushes to some collector whom owns a NORCA vacuum cleaner.

I hope this link to my posting will work and someone can help me give the brush set to someone wit a NORCA: https://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?45027_3

Thanks,
Ron Reeland

I don’t really come here anymore because I don’t collect anymore. Once in a while I’ll check to see if there’s something I can offer advice wise, but it’s really become a toxic place. Too many people butt heads over vacuum cleaners, past events, and slander oof don’t get me started. Prior to my life’s change I used to enjoy the forums, I used to enjoy collecting, learning, and offering advice, history etc… believe it or not over the last couple of years I’ve forgotten a lot of what I once knew. I’m glad to see the site is still running and that people do come here but I do agree with some when they say that people have moved to social media platforms. I am no longer part of any of those groups either for a lot of the same reasons here. I do miss the old days of the forums being alive. From the stories, to the “online roleplay”( Helen and ida, glamourene, etc) to the wonderful historical context. This place used to be wonderful!

This is one of my main sources of floor & surface machine info, too (another being Doug Smith's website). I appreciate the wealth of information from contributors and try to add to it when I am able; although I do take breaks from time to time.

Here but find it hard to chime in when almost every new members questions are answered in the archives.

Toxic

I would love to hear what some define as "Toxic". If someone here said 2 and 2 is 6 and someone said sorry 2 and 2 is 4 is that being "toxic"? What good is a forum like this if you can't disagree with someone or have a different point of view and be labeled Toxic.

I recently disagreed with someone about what they called a "mint" Kirby bag, and pointed out why I simply disagreed with their analysis, was that being Toxic? Is asking this question to some here being toxic? Just a friendly observation.

Jim
