Where/how do you store/display your machines?

Some store them in closets, some have a designated room, etc....
When I hosted mini meets (had about 20), I'd spotlight various Hoovers. There would be newer ones in one area, vaults in another, etc.
My carpenter will be doing his work here soon, in the Gallery, AKA, the cats' apt.
There is a 'back stairway" here, hidden for years in a wall. It has very VINTAGE models on it now. The big staircase (many seem obsessed/intrigued by it) gets lined with fun machines. There are other vacs all over, ready at a second's notice.

It'll be wild in 3033 when The V.C.C.C. holds the convention in Scranton. Tom promised to come here and spend a week, helping me with everything. That was , of course, Tom Anderson, from North Canton, ohio. It will be his first trip here.
So, where/how do YOU store/display. other than in a designated vac shop?

Presently I have shelves in the basement and the bedroom. I will be relocating very soon, and I will finally have a designated "Vacuum Room" where I can better display them

Not to worry. Plus, some people have spoken for some already. Good thing I have multiples. Everyone who wants a 69, 1070, etc can get one.

Vacuums in every room of the house...

I just cram them wherever I can find space. It's really getting kind of ridiculous. The laundry room is the holding area for most of my parts and accessories and all of my Electrolux hoses, along with both of my 1205's, both of my Royal handhelds and both of my Hoover QuikBooms. Across the hall in the spare bedroom I use for storage are my Kirby Sentria, Legend II and my little Eureka canister. The spare bedroom I use for my library and guest room also houses my Sanitaire SC 686, Kirby Heritage II and Electrolux Diamond J and Diplomat LX. In my bedroom are my Electrolux Genesis LXe and Silverado. The dining room houses my Kirby G5 and there's a closet that contains both Gsixes and my Electrolux Super J. The Discovery II lives in the entry hall, the Heritage 1HD is parked in the kitchen and my Dayton shop vac is in the tool shed on the side of the house. Buried in the back of the barn are my Electrolux Discovery Plus, Filter Queen Majestic and Douglas ATV shop vac. The only rooms that don't have vacuums are the living room and the bathrooms. There's no rhyme nor reason to why any machine is in any particular place, other than the ones down in the barn because they're my least favorites and there's good shelf space for the stuff that's in the laundry room. Other than that, it's just a matter of wherever I could find a spot to put things. One thing's for sure, there is no logical justification whatsoever for me acquiring anything else. I've just got too damn much stuff.

I knew that's what you meant. I just couldn't resist being a bit of a wise guy.
I've been here long enough to recognize that you have a sense of humor.
And...a lap kitty! Our guy will sit near me, but that's about it.
To at least try to stay on topic; most of my vacuums are in the computer room, but not in any kind of display. A few are in the basement. One is on the second floor. Sometimes, when I use one, it gets parked where I left off with the vacuuming. Organization is not my strong suit.

I have mine in a spare room in the basement but they will eventually have to move out. Some are scattered in the basement and in my bedroom and the garage. Eventually I plan to have them all in the garage, the downside is it is not climate controlled but I have fans in the ceiling and if I have them set to run on a timer for 2-3 hours every 2 hours it should be OK in there, circulate enough air around that it wont get too hot. I have had other vacuums out there from before I was a collector that havent changed since I put them in there about 7 years ago so it should be OK.

I just have them mostly in closets, in corners behind doors, etc. When I was new to collecting, say 8 years ago, my dream was to have a house with a room for just vacuums. But that isn't something that interests me anymore. I want more space, and less clutter. I don't really want a vacuum collection of machines I never use. I more want just a small assortment of machines that I like and use around the house.

Clutter just seems to do a number on my mind for some reason. I've gotten to where I like simple best, so I haven't been acquiring as many vacuums lately. Just ones I've been looking for. But even then, it's as if I get a vacuum that I've always wanted, and then what? It just sits there and collects dust.

I will have one designated room for them. BUT, there IS spillover, lolol
With a 12 room house, there is a lot of room for 'stuff'. Sometimes, I go on a "binge" of de-cluttering. I'm also hoping to make one of the basements a vacuum area.
It's tough" When you HAVE space, you tend to fill it.

I sure like Kyle's low tech approach. He can always add posters and literature up on the walls if he wants to.

In my case, vac collecting is some unmentionable sin. Everyone laughs at me or asks the ubiquitous "why?". But I think this is more of a function of where I am, than anything. When I lived in TX, nobody hassled anyone else about hobbies. If you were a passionate collector of anything, you were respected.

So....I have some in closets, a few just out in my bedroom....many down in the basement, which isn't a full basement and the remainder in a paid storage space.

It's like my dirty little secret here.....

What a beautiful display. And such gorgeous Hoovers. My husband and I have dinner parties frequently, but unless my guests are vacuum collectors they would be hard pressed to find a vacuum in my house. The ones I clean with are stored in a closet (no tripping hazard) but the one I use most is built into my walls. I may have a fairly large house, but you would never think a vacuum hoarder lived there.

I asked Tom A. to help me use my space to it's best potential. If you've ever been in his home, .. you know. WE were justdiscussing it last night, during our weekly 'visit". He has the perfect setup there.He'll be surprised when he gets to Pittston.

My setup

Here’s my current setup in my vacuum room as well as how my garage looks. Unfortunately I can’t keep them all in one room, but this way I can cycle the ones in storage in the room like a museum. Some day I’ll have a space large enough to display them all, but for now I’ll settle with my room. Enjoy the pics! Love it when people post pics of their collections!

When I bought my new house, it just had drywall in it. Their was a dining nook to one side and I needed


a flat wall for my Story and Clark Organ and I also needed another closet for the vacuums. I had the 


builder close in the wall of the dining nook and put an entrance door in the hall to access the vacuum


closet. Worked out great. I also have a closet off the master bedroom that is for my cloths. It's huge and


I store vacuums in it. Then I also have some stored in containers in my garage, which house the furnace and


water heater and the garage is insulated.....I have metal adjustable shelving that Lowes installed on both sides.


It holds misc boxes for Xmas Decorations, Extra Dishes etc. All stored in see through large containers.

I really like you great use of space. VERY nice display. Bud, same.
I have several shelf units, but none of the wire "baker's racks". I'm preparing the "Gallery" here, which is approx 15'by 22'. Everything will NOT fit, but, I must use the space well.
You guys inspire me.
