When has Dyson...

Help Support VacuumLand:

I personally think Old Dysons are pretty fragile and used to break if got too much sunlight .the reason they changed it to the darker colour as it wouldn't get sunrays damage. when I did have a DC 33 it felt quite fragile nothing like the DC41 but the dc33 felt like it would snap. has anyone else notice only Dyson recently 4 or 3 or 5 has started showing videos of them surviving tests being dropped and hit cause they can actually survive that not what the old ones are probably disintegrate:). Is why I really really don't like old dysons my garage has got loads of damage bodies and just need lots repairs I don't see as many DC14 with broken bodies like the old dysons. Dysons learn from the mistake and finally make machines that can survive on last would happily take a hammer to my Dyson DC 55 and know it will be completely fine In fact after Christmas I will make a video of hitting it in lots of different places hard with a hammer and dropping it. But I wouldn't dare do that with any other of my vacuums. I know a Dyson wouldn't outlast A Kirby but I know will outlast a lot I'm not a machine to get today. people don't like Dyson because of their old experiences I don't blame you I really don't like them but New one you can get today are completely completely different to the old ones are just so much better than I used to be finally made machines that can clean and outlast. So thanks guys sorry if there is any miss spelling.

dys0nb0y, Dyson were showing videos of their cleaners being tested in the factory many years ago. Before all of the shopping channels we have now, when digital TV was first avaliable about 15 years ago a new channel called Shop! was on air, and they had a bit of a thing going with Dyson - James Dyson himself used to go on to the TV channel and up-sell his cleaners. They used videos of the testing at the factory as part of his sales material. Also the zorb DC04 was very much in fashion then too - I can recall seeing James Dyson talking about that.

Also, footage of the testing has been used in various Dyson adverts over the years. Considering the reputation they gained for making low quality goods (albiet goods which continued to sell oh so well), I thought it was just a little misguided to be talki ng about durability in the way that the adverts did.

dys0nb0y,

I didn't actually see your post but based upon what vintagerepairer wrote, Im assuming you where defending Dyson. I get that you love Dyson but part of being a vacuum collector is understanding that your favorite brand, or any brand for that matter, isn't perfect and will probably always have little flaws. Dyson has some flaws in their brand. I love Oreck and I know that Oreck has some major and minor flaws. I also understand that people might have different views on my favorite brand. I hope you understand what I'm saying, I'm not trying to be rude I just wanted to say that you shouldn't have to feel like you have to defend Dyson all the time :)

There was no Dyson defending or bashing - simply a mention of the videos which Dyson use to advertise their cleaners which show them being tested in the factory. Dysonboy thought this was a new concept and I pointed out that it wasn't. I have no idea why the message is gone though. You can't really base a reply on what you think was said though.

Wow. Very well explained Josh! Couldn't have out it better myself. You are right. The newer ones are better in most ways. My DC25 feels more capable of being dropped down the stairs, mor even concrete stairs compared to a DC04

PS if you want an older Dyson, I suggest the very last DC07 models from post 2005 and DC14 models too. My DC07 origin is from 2005 and took a good beating. It's been in our family for 11 months now with no problems

Wish they were sold here. Are the bristles stiffer than DC40 bristles? Do they stick to the floor as good as a DC07 or DC41?
Thanks

Have you had experience with the Dyson DC 65 or DC 40 or anything like that Or a dc39 if not you can't really comment on the new ones

oh have I!

I used my cousin's DC40 and the thing practically fell apart when I was using it. The part that holds the handle to the base fell apart when I was using it! Then the part that connects the cleaning head to the dirt bin disconnected and spewed dirt everywhere! My cousin got sick of all its issues with it and simply threw it out and bought a hoover instead.

Well that's only one. I personally don't like the USA DC 40. You should've said I've never ever ever heard in the whole life problems you've pointed out. You can't base one experience and all the others.

I am...

I am simply conparing that experience to the experiences I had with older dysons such as my aunt's dc07 animal and my dc07 full gear. The quality of the dc07's is much bettet than that of a dc40

I can show you a picture of hundreds of damage dc07 and none of the DC40s but a few were a few common problems with them but If you want to believe that that's up to you.

Here in the us at least, the DC40 and DC07 are completely different. The DC40 here is complete rubbish. The DC07 here is much better. I would sorta compare this to Oreck in the U.K. And other countries.

And I know some of you might feel like the new Dysons feel like crap and flex and compare to what Dyson plastic used to be these things like bullet-proof not really bullet-proof but is a expression

Might be rubbish to you but lots and lots of people like not may on this site but I know a lot of people that have it and have nothing but joy from it. .
