advantages and disadvantages
I was actually doing some more reading on this on another site, and people think there are advantages and disadvantages to both and that it's personal preference, but when looking at the entire picture, a brush without wheels is probably better. Some people seem to think that a brush with wheels does not push the dirt around as much as the brush is slightly higher, that's really the only advantage I think, brushes without wheels have many more advantages. The brush is closer to the floor so it can sweep dirt that is more stubborn enough so the vacuum's air flow can take it away, also these brushes would probably clean better around edges, since there are bristles there instead of wheels.
Regarding the issue of brushes with no wheels pushing things around instead of vacuuming them up, I would think just lifting the nozzle a bit would work. I like the rd285 on hard floors, there are no bristles for hair to stick to, it does have the issue of pushing things around sometimes instead of picking them up, usually if I tilt the nozzle back a bit, it is able to remove the item. I'm not really a fan of those combination carpet and hard floor nozzles where you flip the switch to make the brush come out for hard floors, or retract it for carpet. For one thing, if you're cleaning carpet, you need a spinning brush. The brushes on these nozzles are not near as good as a dedicated hard floor brush either.
