Hey John, what model number is that DAM?? I know I know I'm a pain in the ass with these model numbers but I don't have that model documented on paper yet.
Thanks, Phillip the model number nut

For me, it's

either my Kirby Sanitronic VII or Rainbow D2.  I thought I had a picture of the D2, but can't find it.  Anyway, here is my Sani VII.

Knew I had a picture ...

Here is my Rainbow D2 I bought off eBay last year when I was in the hospital.  It is in perfect condition, and 99% complete.  I bought a new hose for it because the original hose has stiffened with age and has a tacky feel to it.  I use the original hose for display purposes only.

Can't narrow it down to one or --two.for uprights-Kirby Tradition and G-5.Royal metal with the Blue,Red,Green bags.Canisters--Rainbow D2 Crome Domes,Rainbow E2 with the led lights on the water bin and the powernozzle.another-in its own-the NSS older M1 with the yellow bodies and blue "Horse" logo bags.

This is my favourite, the original Premiere Mini 175 commercial vacuum. Such a quirky design that works so well. The motor is upside down in the base of the machine, a bit like a Hoover Constellation. They really are fantastic and last forever.

Must also be one of the longest running vacuums too, they have been in production relatively unchanged since 1975 and are still made in the same factory to this day. The current one comes with a lifetime guarantee!

That is trully a great vacuum, I wish I could get hold of another one.

On the life time guarantee, who's life time. I was chatting to a mate in the business and we were discussing Life time guarantee's on many vacuums.

The machine comes with a life time guarantee and when its motor burns out its life time is over there fore it lasted its life and no guarantee claim :) Not knocking your premier, they are great just the whole life time guarantee thing leaves alot of grey area's

hmmm spose lol….

however, under normal commercial use, most of them tend to last a good 20-25 years if not more. Think thats pretty good for any vac really. I've always loved them though, they had loads of them at my primary school, and the bigger 275 Maxi

they really are great and like i say have hardly changed since 1975. I spose if something ain't broke it don't need fixing. It's just a good robust design that works well. One of the best commercial vacuums. And it looks great lol Very popular in schools

Not sure which is my favorite but...

Here's a video I made with some of my old models to show a little evolution in VACUUM DARWINISM. Enjoy!

Fred, your red Kirby Classic III is absolutely beautiful. There was a red Classic III on my local CraigsList for $25.00, I kept emailing the the seller, to arrange a purchase, but I never got a response.

The Kirby Tradition and the Classic III are imho the two prettiest Kirbys.

Well one more at least.

I did a round trip of 500 miles in one day to pick this up - this is the most expensive vintage cleaner (£175 + petrol) i have purchased although I consider well worth it. And it was good to meet the seller from whom I have bought several more cleaners (including the SA Hoover 4006), all of whom have been in good condition.

The story was that it was purchased by someone in the army who bought it while serving at BFBO in Germany. When posted back in the UK his wife would not use it as the "electricity was wrong" - complete nonsense of course its just a different format of plug. But into the attic it went, not to be used for 40 years or so.Still their loss was my gain. It came with its original hose which is dark brown, rather like that of the Portable

Looking at that last picture

You would think it did not have the standard switch plate, but it did, its just a very good colour match.

This is one of 5 DAM's which I have, the latest of which I only got a couple of weeks ago, but thats for another thread. The picture is of the others

Though I don't own one, nor have I ever seen one in real life, I must say that the most beautiful vac I have ever seen in pictures or in videos is the latest model of the German Kobold Vorwerk cleaning system. Every part looks so smooth and "sexy" and well-designed!

Mine would be...

The Electrolux Commemorative Edition. Bud, I saw your commemorative edition posted here and loved it. As luck would have it, I found one on eBay the other day that was presented to Gary Griffin and was able to purchase it! I should arrive soon and will be the show-piece of my collection!

Only a thousand were made

I saw that on Ebay. There were made as rewards for the sales people. I am really glad you got one, I sure enjoy mine. It was the last all metal made.

Sincerely,

Bud
