My top 3:
Dyson DC24 on Gumtree, loss of suction £10!!
Dyson Dc07 All floors I bought at a carboot sale, just needed a clean, worked fine after that, and had a ripped hose- £3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dyson DC01 £5 and a free Bissell easy vac with it too!

My own top three:

1) A Sebo Felix for $8 from the Salvation Army that only had one problem -- it was clogged up with (among other things) a child's knitted coin purse! Also, the wraparound exhaust filter was hanging loosely on the cleaner body rather than being firmly attached. I cleaned the machine up an out, reattached the filter, and bought some bags for it -- yielding me a perfect cleaner for roughly $22.

2) An Electrolux Oxygen 3 Deepclean (canister only: no hose, attachments, or PN) for $10 also from the Salvation Army that was completely dead. My friend Tom Rosiek, a local vac shop owner to whom I brought the machine, determined the problem was with the Sumo board -- and fixed the existing board for $25 instead of replacing it altogether. Since I already had a hose, attachments, and a PN from my TwinClean that also fit on the Oxy3, my total cost for this otherwise perfect condition machine was $35!

3) A Windsor Sensor SR12 upright marked down from $12 to $6 at the now-defunct Project RETAP Thrift Store. They were going out of business, and were having a 50% off sale the day I found the Sensor. It just needed a good cleaning, new bags and filters, new brush roll, and some electrical tape in a couple of spots on the cord. Otherwise, it was (and still is) in beautiful shape! For those who have read my posts in the past, this machine is my daily driver.

Others to add:

Electrolux THE BOSS Bagged Upright, model Z2270, Perfect Condition, Used Once, £10 off a carboot.

Hoover Turbopower 3, £6 off a carboot, with the Permabag System.

£25 Hoover Jazz off eBay, practically new, only removed out of box, Original Box included. Still awaiting it's arrival.

I'm hoping it can go both ways. (Insanely expensive to cheap)

At the Mile High Flea market here in Colorado, someone wanted $5000 for a Kirby Classic III this year. I wouldn't even pay 100th that for a Classic III.

The craziest?

I'd say my rainbow E-2 i paid about 508 in total for a black rainbow. I was honestly quite shocked that i won it at all, as just a day, or two, before i saw a one day auction go from 0 to about 1200.

Other than that i paid $25 for my tristar CXL
$50 for my silver King Blue max 2000 (current model)
$10 for a 2 speed eureka cordaway that has already been serviced.

Hmm,

Probably my 1983 Kenmore Let's Clean canister vacuum. Paid $5 and came with the storage tub, hose, wands, all attachments and even the manual! Great condition too.

Then an Electrolux Grand Marquis, good hose, wands, PN, all attachments and Sidekick for $10. Just needed some cleaning.

And a Penncrest Hoover Constellation for $3. Not so great condition but runs fine and I wanted a Constellation and happened to find it.

My best deal was an Electrolux Genesis upright complete with tools and Aerus bags for $14.

Shopgoodwill.com is great place to find cheap high-end vacuums. Prices seem to be increasing these days, but still significantly cheaper than eBay.

Gifted ones!!

My Eureka 1784B in fantastic condition was marked $5 at a yard sale. I took it to the table and with out my even saying anything they gave it to me for $3, but I bought a few other things from that same yard sale.

However, the absolute greatest deals are those gifted by others. I highly appreciate the generosity of Bill Wood for the Hoover Celebrity II Elite S3061-030 canister and John Long for the Hoover Windtunnel S3630 bagged canister! The gifting generosity is the best deal and most appreciated!!!

best deal was the winning bid of 99 cents and $34 shipping for my innovation.
next would probably be a deal I got on a kirby classic omega, incomplete III, 515, G5, and 3 mid-90's royals for $100. Cleaned them all up and made double my money back selling the classics, my beat up G5 and the cheapest Royal, leaving me with the other machines I liked/wanted.
Worst deal?
Was my fault, I offered a guy $75 for a Rainbow D3 that came with wands, the 2 hoses, near new pn but the machine's housing and dolly were busted up from it falling down his stairs. At that time I was young and naive and really wanted a D3. I still use it but every once in a while I have to reglue or invent a new mounting method for the latch that busted off in the fall.

Our Miele S5. Came from the side of the road with a blown thermal fuse. Stripdown, resolder the fuse back together, full spa day and £10 on a service box and it's our daily vac still!

My best deal so far was...

My Green, mint condition 1980 Concept One PowerDrive for 5 dollars. It was layered in dirt and needed belts but that dirt preserved it's fresh mintyness.

It's my favorite in my collection and I'm in the market for "one or two more". hahaha.

my best deals was my Kenmore heavy duty twin fan for $10 at the flea market I was talking to the guy and I told him that I was looking for a Kirby and he told me he had one in storage and I ask him how much was he selling it for he said $20 he didn't have it with him I asked him if he could bring it next Sunday since I always go to the flea market on Sundays he said yes so next sunday comes and there it was a G6 2000 with all the tools the caddy and the shampooer looked it over very good it works all i needed to get was a cord for it didn't hook on the handle but good as new
