What year is this Eureka?

Can anyone tell me the year of this vac? I don't have the model number. I only know that it was a 200 series. It's my Mom's and she is thinking of parting with it but she is unsure.

My guess is 60's. I have a similar model Vanguard with cordreel and the original matching bag...that's not the original bag for the machine it seems. I think you should probably get yourself a pink convertible don't you LOL

Pete, that's a fancy bag! Brocade is just not my style. Neither is pink. I prefer stainless or black. I am not very feminine nor a real girly girl. ;-)

I must confess, I do have a Dyson DC 14 in purple and grey. Don't kick me out of here! LOL I love shopping for older vacs and parts. I got some nice Kirby parts that I will be offering here. Even came in the original box and it was only $5 so I had to buy it.

Yes, I am a thrift store junkie (for everything, clothes, small appliances, etc) and I cannot go more than one day without going just to see what they have! I just got a gorgeous vintage Faberware stainless electric wok. It's awesome. I had a newer West Bend (that ugly red thing you see at every thift store) but it's losing it's non stick coating in a couple places and I didn't feel like eating non stick coating with my chinese food. Needless to say, it's going to the thrift store on in next donation bag!

If anyone is looking for anything specific, just e-mail me and I will add it to my list of things to look for.

those Eurekas are a little on the heavy side, is that why mom wants to get rid of it? does she feel its not cleaning like new? if it needs service, parts are very cheap.

It is heavy and my mom moved to a house with mostly tile floors, so she does not need a huge vacuum aanymore. She needs something smaller so she can lift it into the car and take it to my grandma's house a couple blocks away to do her floors too.
The vacuum is like new on the underside. It works fine as far as I know.

Maybe the Eureka guys can answer this question...should this machine use this tool set? It looks like this machine in the photo has the plug on the top of the housing meaning that it would take the top tool conversion tools. However, I do know that this tool set, which is very COOL, will work just fine. Does anyone have a complete top tool conversion for a Eureka? Could you post photos? I have a connector and a hose but no bottom plate to cut off the suction when using the tools. Thanks for any info that anyone can provide.

This thread helped me identify a peculiar - to me - hose with attached ends, all in quite clean condition, I brought home from the ReStore for a buck. I figured I could salvage the 8 foot no-crush hose for something. Its all still in one piece, tho.

Tom, I have that bottom plate with the single caster and the sliding hook latch. Its made of a creamy white thick plastic and you're welcome to the whole shebang if I bring it along in November. We can compare notes after I take some pictures of it.

The one above may be made of cast metal? I can see that mine has the identical shape, tho.

To answer the question posed by Tom A.

Yes....the tool set is technically for a later Eureka Upright cleaner. This one should have the top mounted hose , that was probably a woven hose attachment kit anyway. Then there was a snap on plate that covered the entire brushroll opening to back pressure the suction thru the hose....

This I do remember very well, as I had a very early Eureka a few years back that had this setup it was two tone blue with a chrome hood...yet NO cord reel???. My Eureka had a square handle not unlike the Hoover Model 60 and 61!!! The model number excapes me...

this is a very very late top-conversion model. on the cusp of the Rugulator introduction im thinking. perhaps this is something of a transitional model? maybe the attachments could be considered "correct"?
