What Would You Have Bought?

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I was born in April 1975...

...so I would buy either the then-current Electrolux or Kirby:

1) The Kirby Classic Omega.

2) Either the Electrolux 1205 or the Golden J/Super J. Or a gently-used or reconditioned Model G or Hospital G.

That's a tough question...

I was born in the summer of 1972. I would have had a very tough choice between a Kirby Omega and a top of the line Eureka Box-Top upright. I think I'd have bought both...I just can't choose between two wonderful, powerful machines.

i was born in August of 84. I would have chosen a Kirby Heritage II or electrolux silverado. ironically, my first vacuum i got when i started collecting in 2011 was a heritage II.

And ...

This is the sight that would have greeted me on opening- lucky me being able to experience it :). Link to one of the adverts below...

1967

I would have bought what my parents had at the time, a Kirby Sanitronic DS50--likely on clearance since the DS80 was just being introduced.

My other choice would have been what I currently own--a tan Electrolux Model G Deluxe:

In November '76, it would have been a toss-up between the Kirby Classic III or the then current Filter Queen. Or one of each.

Will, LOVE that Classic O! My favorite Kirby. The Shag Rake is GROOVY man!!!

Lots of good vacs were out then. I know the original single speed Rainbow E Series was only a year into its run. And there were plenty of excellent vac shop only models out as well.

Born in? Eurela Mobile Air

In 1984, I was twenty four. You two kids make me feel old. You still have almost an entire life ahead of you.
That 1959 Eureka was one of my parents wedding gifts.

In good ol' 1985 I would have bought either the Heritage 2 Kirby, Silverado Electrolux, Rust colored Hoover Concept 2, Blue Eureka Ultra, Green Eureka Power team canister, and or maybe a Fairfax still using the Hoover Powermatic power nozzle or Tristar CXL

So, in say 1968, I'd have bought a Eurka Empress I Vibra-Beat, then when the Rotomatic Power teams came out, as some shops took trade ins, A model 1279, or 1290, both of which I have today.
Photos are on the I'm new here thread.
