OK, I have a mystery attachment that was found in the Reno Group of my Heritage II. It's definitely not a Kirby upholstery nozzle, because it does not fit in the hose of my Heritage 84. There are two stamps inside it, one saying "24176" and the other saying "5A." There's also a place for a snap-in brush, it appears.

Eureka

This was the standard Eureka upholstery nozzle from about the 60s through 90s for canisters and upright att kits.It started as blue. The black could have been with a Mighty Mite,Ultra att kit or other. As noticed it could have a brush strip as a deluxe feature.

Thanks!

My Grandmother has an early 90's Eureka canister. I think hers has the upholstery nozzle, but it doesn't have the dust brush or hard floor tool. So this attachment may get pawned off on eBay.

Indeed, this is the classic Eureka William upholstery nozzle that was even available in the early 1960's. You are missing a brush strip - this was always part of the attachment. I think that Electrolux of North America still offers this for sale.

Eureka all the way..one of the best upholstery tools on the market..in my opinion.

Often it did not have the brush strip in place, especially if it came with the a lower end model or as part of the upright attachment kit.

Morgan,

I never knew that Eureka actually sold a cheaper version without the bristle strip. I've seen old battered toothless versions that probably lost the brush strip at some point in their long lives....but a "new in the box" upholstery nozzle without the strip? R U sure? :-) Curious about this now...hmmm... :-)

"without the bristle strip"

Morgan is right. Was especially true on plain canisters using the type H bag.As a vac became more deluxe, and expensive, the bristle strip, tool clips, longer cord, extra atts, suction control and more could be added.-(The early nozzle was smooth, later was textured.)
