What states have you used a vacuum in ?

Today I was at one of the Elementary schools we clean working with 2 new employees. I was going room to room vacuuming the area rugs in the rooms.

One of the rooms has a carpet with a picture of the united states on it. Being in a happy go lucky mood. I casually mentioned to the instructor Hey this is cool I can vacuum all over the United States. He chuckled at the comment and I mentioned a few states I have used a vacuum in.

Which then got me to thinking It would be fun to see how many places we have used a vacuum cleaner.

So far the list is as follows.

Wisconsin of course. All makes and platforms available commercial or domestic

Alaska.... 1995 Shop vacuum and tried to use a built in system that was in need of repair. All you could get is motor sound as the plumbing was in need of repair

Oregon.... 1981 Hoover concept with power drive. Oh what a ride that was. First time with self propelled.

Kansas..... 1972 or 1973 Kirby 519 or similar model.

Michigan..... 1996 Electrolux with power head

West Virginia....1986 Kenmore canister with power head

Florida... 1988 Shop vac provide by house parents of the Travel/tourism school
Bought a Regina electric broom with power head used that instead to clean dorm room.

Florida 2005-2008 When visiting a friend. Dirt Devil canister vacuum.

Virginia.... Aunt's and uncles vacuum. Upright but don't remember what it was.

Georgia... 2020 Kirby 2001 limited edition to inflate air mattress.

I have been in other states but didn't get to vacuum anything. Must be time to pack a vacuum and hit the road and see if I can finish off the list. As long as the bucket list is to see all 50 states and Canada I can multi task and honestly say "been there done that."

Me first? OK...

Have been to and through 31 states, some a couple days, some a couple weeks and some for a couple months. Only lived full time here in Sunny California, lately Smoky California. I've only vacuumed in a few states.

Oahu Hawaii- Green Hoover Decade 3 bedroom house where I stayed for 2 weeks w/friends

Austin Texas- Central Vacuum System-Electrolux-Stayed 2 weeks at friends 6 bedroom house

San Antonio Texas- Central Vacuum system(old, I don't remember brand)2 months-family

NYC-Kirby Heritage II and a C9 canister. 2 weeks at a friends flat on West73rd in Manhattan .

That's about it! I only worked in San Antonio while staying the summer with cousins. My aunt had a carpet cleaning business and I worked with the big equipment on a van with the big steam heads and long hoses . Lot of work in 100 degree weather! Billy

Nice. I would like to work with a truck mount carpet extractor and see what it is all about.

San Antonio is a fun place to visit. Spent a long weekend there when I worked for an airline in 1999 - 2000.

Considering I've lived my entire life in North and South Carolina, those are the only two states in which I have run a vacuum cleaner. I did have to chuckle over this thread, though, as it reminded me of a girl I once knew who liked to travel and kept a list of every state in which she'd had sex. I guess you could say she got around in more ways than one.

Guess so!

I've only ever lived in this house. But, I've been in half the country, and have vacuumed in just about every state I've been in. I even vacuumed in Ireland.

For what its worth have a Royal metal upright my Dad and Stepmom used to have-my brother brought it to me.Used to use this vacuum in their Rapid City Sdak home-they bought it there in Rapid.Cleaning out the orig cloth outer bag-Uses A/F&G bags.in the process of cleaning the machine itself.It still runs OK.Was purchased sometime in the 80's.I figure the Pitt County Landfill here won't mind a little Rapid City/South Dakota dirt and doghair from their lab dog.The home used to have bright red shag carpet-sure there was red rug fibers in the bag as well.Vacuumed out the outer bag with my MD central vacuum.

So it has come to importing dirt now. LOL

Just try and remember where you left it. South Dakota may want it back.

The full bag was taken to the transfer dump station near my house-they have three stationary compactors-one for trash-put the bag in that one and two others-one for cans and bottles-other for cardboard.I don't think South Dakota will mis one vacuum bag of "their" dirt-remember not all of what was in the bag is dirt-lots of it would be dog hair and red carpet fibers.Didn't look in the bag-just threw it out.The trash from the station compactor goes to the landfill.The others are recycled.
