I like central vacuums the most. They're powerful and they clean carpets fine, (if you install them correctly and use a good power nozzle) the filtration is outstanding, they're quiet, and they're a good investment.

Lindhaus HF6, there's just something special about it... Which I really like.

Picture below is a vintage model from 1997, they are still sold today although the current version has seen a few significant improvements since the very first one.

What's a niche?

I'm unsure how a niche is defined in this case, it seems like you were going for a category while other members have gone for more a specific style.

Anyways I think backpack vacuums are kind of a niche. fairly common in the commercial sector but uncommon in the residential. I've currently got 4 with a 5th on the way.

For deep carpet cleaning, I guess my niche vacuum is a lightweight Oreck clone, like the now discontinued Hoover Platinum Bagged lightweight upright. Simple but effective low amp motor in a fan first configuration with a large up front disposable dust bag. Anything like the old classic Eureka Ultra, Eureka Boss and Hoover Elite. With the handle doubling as a dirt path to the bag. No on-board tools to complicate the cleaner and make it heavy.

For bare floor cleaning, my “niche” cleaner is anything that resembles a Swiffer Vac and Dust: any vacuum that features an unobstructed front suction nozzle paired with a disposable or washable mopping pad. That’s my niche bare floor cleaner.
