What Model Rainbow...

Hello All..

So lurking around for a long time (mostly enjoy reading) and now have a question of sorts to post.

In September of this year I helped with a massive de hording situation and I acquired this poor Rainbow.. *I* am not a huge fan of them, but I took it (along with 4 carpet shampooers and a non descript upright)

Upon inspection, it needs a motor or the motor rebuilt *I* believe.. Its not the prettiest rainbow..But it does switch on, just makes a loud noise. Now with that said, I have not tested it with water either....

This is not something I plan to keep... Before I figure out what to do.. Is it worth sinking the money in to replace the motor... ANd what model is it?
Nothing gives me any clue. AT ALL.. I found the tag on the power head, but nothing on the Unit

I have 2 hoses, 2 sets of wandas, a base with casters, i think the manual. A shampooer attachment..

I think that's a model D4, though I'm not a Rainbow expert. Those still fetch a decent price in good condition, and rightly so - they work well, and last. It's probably worth cleaning up, if only to sell.

It is a d4c. Cheapest thing to do is wipe it down and provided the motor bearings aren't ridiculously loud list it on eBay "as is". Since you got it for free anything you get is for profit unless like you said you sink a ton of meny into it

I had the same thing happen when I picked up a Rainbow D4C -- bad bearings. I rebuilt the motor and got a lot of new parts for it. At the end of the day, I probably put about $300 into it. Here's the thread from when I rebuilt my machine:

I posted it .. Thanks.. The PO told me if I get rid of it, it either has to go to some one who will restore/keep it or use it to save other rainbows
