What is your favorite Hoover?

I have three older Connies. They are an interesting novelty, but not something very 'fun' to really clean a whole house with.

However, I have the retro Connie as well and it does everything these older ones don't. Very well thought out;much better filtration, better seals, great suction and glides better on any surface than the older models. The floor tool is great and all brushes are horsehair. I actually use the retro Hoover floor tool with my Electrolux tanks, because it's a better design than Elux had....but I haven't tried the newer Aerus floor tool yet.

I have too many Hoover favorites...

There are many I really like. I love the old flick switches on the Convertibles and I prefer the round metal handles over the ones with the rubber grips.

I like many Elite uprights, I really like my Hoover WidePath upright..that's a definitely a real fun one to use.

The Steamvacs are great. The SteamVac WidePath with headlights was very cool.

I especially love canisters though. But which style do I like more??? Dimension 1000 style, PowerMax, or Celebrity. I love them all. The PowerMax style is the cheapest made but still great power, easier to carry, controls on the hose handle and great performers.

So I'm gonna post my 3 favorites I guess... my Hoover Supremacy canister, since it has the controls on the handle and a gorgeous red color, my Celebrity II Elite S3061 canister and my WidePath upright. I used to have a Red WidePath upright but then that got traded for a navy blue Soft Guard with another collector. He really wanted red and I can't pass up navy blue, so it worked. LOL I can't leave a photo out of my 1020 either. It is my commonly used upright of any in my collection!

My two favorites are the Hoover 29, my mom's girlfriend had one, and the

Hoover Model 70, which I bought for my mom brand new from a hardware

store. Oops and the Hoover Model 63.

Flying Saucer

I owned one many many years ago when I was about 13.... I THINK it was the model Celebrity 3? It was a yellow flying saucer shaped canister that had no wheels, so it hovered. AND it had a great performing power head! I really liked that machine and I ended up selling it to a neighbor because I remember that if I left the canister sit too long in one place, it would leave a dark spot on the carpet from the carbon dust coming off of the motor. It was a shame that it had that effect. I would have really liked to have kept it and used it often. It had nice features and nice attachments.

Favorite Hoover...

Mine would have to be the convertible, specifically the ranger hood models. I don’t know what it is about them, but I just love the way they look. Here’s a few pictures of my U-4423. It was one of the first American Hoovers to have a date code, and it says it was made in November of 1987. I specifically bought one that was scratched up so I wouldn’t feel bad when it got a few scratches from regular use.

Favorite Hoovers.

As an historian, I guess the favorite would be the model O, the one that started it all.

Aside from that, my favorites are the 541, Aire-Dyne tank, the first of the Constellations, as well as the first Pixie. Both of which I have in the two-tone blue/grey.

Then there are the stick-Vacs. The Hoover Lark, in the light blue. Rounding out the favorites has to be the the original Hoover Floor washer in yellow.

The only one I don't have is the floor washer. Used to, but that needs to be replaced.

These were all landmark models, and each made a huge impression on the American public.

My favourite Hoover is my fan-first Platinum Bagged Lightweight Upright! It was rated very highly in Consumer Reports and I have found it to be an excellent carpet cleaner: easy-to-use, very long cord, bright headlight, huge bag that is really easy to change, and power switch on the handle. And I bought it at Sears Canada for under CAD$400. I can't understand why Hoover/TTI discontinued it.

A few u inquest Hoover’s I like

Well some old some newer…..

We had an Orange Quik Broom that used the F bags. Seemed to last forever. Mom donated it a few years ago but Mom had it since the mid 70s and used it every few days for the kitchen and family room.

I always liked the Hoover canisters from the 80s and one of the neighbors bought one to replace her old convertible upright for more flexibility in cleaning …it was silver and black and looked very sharp…I remember she had it out when I was over one day and I remarked that she got a new vacuum and she said she was very happy with it.

Another neighbor had a favorite unique model. The innovation upright. It was one of the first newer style uprights and the height adjustment slider indicator was lighted.

I have a platinum upright. Nice that it is two speed and I love the self closing and sealing Q bags with their micro filtration. Bag compartment stays perfectly clean. I like the design of the bag compartment too from the material and the double zipper opening. The styling of the vacuum is very nice as well and much nicer than an oreck which it is designed similarly to. It’s one of my favorites and I always liked it and finally had a chance to get one that is nearly new for virtually nothing so I jumped on it. While it doesn’t have any attachments and is strictly a floor machine, it is generally nice and goes nicely from hard floors to carpet. I’d like to try a platinum canister at some point but I do need to keep my collection limited due to space.
