What is Crosley?

Saw this and just wondering what what Crosley is/was. Funny how they say it's the bionic cleaner haha, any info would be nice.

Crosley/Hoover

I have seen one of these years ago(90s) on display in a local buy here,finance here NC furniture/appliance store at a very high price.I did not know it had a NC address.'Back in the day' Crosley would have been a Shelvador refrigerator.Just as a consumer magazine "saw nothing electronic" about the Lewyt,I see nothing bionic here.
This would today be a rare find of a good vac.

It actually was the cheapest, least expensive Hoover elite with on-board tools they made. No headlight, short cord. As a Hoover, it sold for around $79 new. They were simply labeled as "Crosley" for Rent To Own stores, as a private labeled brand. There's nothing particularly good about that model, it has a single row brush roller, all the dirt passes through the fan into a singly ply leaking paper bag. I remember throwing tons of them away in the late 1990's, as they were traded in on vacuums that had actual suction power through the hose (like a Sharp or Simplicity hard body machine).

Crosley was a respected radio and appliance manufacturer back before WWII. Somewhere along the line, it went defunct and now exists only as a shell brand that gets slapped on all manner of cheap, made in China junk. More recently, Polaroid has suffered a similar fate.

Crosley also made

cars, and was a WW2 defense contractor. The factory still stands, abandoned in Cincinnati Ohio, in the Ft. Washington section, about a half mile or so north of where Crosley field was. The Cincinnati Red's played there until 1970 when Riverfront Stadium opened.

That name has shown up in the UK too on a range of cheap electronic goods in Asda (Walmart). However, there is a story to the demise of Polaroid, at least in the UK, as they failed to keep abreast of market changes and their product became extinct. The fact that the name is back in use means it clearly still had a "Value" in the business world as someone will have paid good money to use it, presumably as the name has a lot of recognition amongst consumers who remembered it from the instant camera days.

Other brands in the UK which have reappeared include Ferguson, Mitsubishi, Fridgidare, Grundig, and Servis

Eastman Kodak, Bell&Howell, etc. A marketing conglomerate purchases the name from the original family descendants to use the well known name, but all new products are imported from unknown makers of course.

The irony is that this model would probably sell well today if it had a better higher filtration or synthetic disposable dust bag.

The name is still around, they sell large appliances. Look like Frigidaire to me. I have seen them at an independent appliance store.

Yes I researched the name and came up with that as well. I can't say I've ever seen this brand at the Indy stores

I almost got a "vault' machine under the

Crosley name, actually an inexpensive Hoover.
Cheap bags abound, but, everyone knows you can place better grade disposable bags in those vacuums.
We see Crosley on new 'retro' record players, etc. I have also seen the name on larger appliances, as well.
I like the real thing, not much into the retro'look' ...just looks cheap to me. of course, one can spot a cheap imitation from miles away.

I'd all that very 'optimistic'. Someone might pay it if they : have the funds, and want it that badly.
Woolworth's sold that (under the Hoover name) yrs ago. My friend had one. it was great for his little apartment. I doubt it survived.
