What carpet cleaner do you use?

I use a Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3

It replaced a Hoover SpinScrub FH50150 which did a great job but didn't inspire confidence that it would last more than a couple of years. The brush turbine assembly broke twice. There is a bearing inside that will rust. While you could try to pry it open and oil it, it is only a short term fix, if it will fix it at all.

With the Mighty Pro X3, I use a 2 gallon pump sprayer to apply a detergent solution down onto the carpet (and a spray bottle for the carpeting in the cars). This was recommended by a YouTuber named Joe Wheeler who has a carpet cleaning business and uses the Mighty Pro X3 day in and day out. He says it does two things: it extends the life of the pump and gives the cleaning solution more contact time to do its work. He uses this method to clean really filthy carpets in rentals. The results are amazing. I just clean carpets just for hygeinic reasons, even though they are as white as can be (yay! No kids or pets, and a strict "No Shoes" policy for our visitors helps with that too).

Now that I have a couple Kirbys (and a shampoo kit, which came with the Sentria that I found at Goodwill back in January), I will have to give the Kirby shampoo method a try. Since I already sunk $400 into the X3 and the fact that I am not very convinced that a carpet can be thoroughly cleaned unless there is an extraction, it will just be out of curiousity. The trouble is, I won't really be able to put it through its paces as my wife and I keep our house immaculate, so I'll have to rub different things into the carpet to test just like I have with the Hoover and the Rug Doctor that replaced it.

I alternate between my Rug Doctor and my Electrolux Floor Pro. "Dry" cleaning doesn't quite do the job when the carpets are really dirty but it's good enough for a quick refresh every couple months. I continue to be very impressed by my Rug Doctor though, it's the model that has both a vibrating brush and a rotating brush. The cleaning results are very impressive, I just wish it had larger tanks.

I actually just cleaned my carpets yesterday in fact, and the almost 20 year old carpets look great again thanks to the Rug Doctor. I have literally never used another residential portable carpet cleaner that is as effective as the Rug Doctor has been.

Spot cleaning needed here & there...

But I mainly use my Kirbys dry cleaning method alternating between times... With the Rainbow Aquamate ( newest E2 style) b/c I'm a Rainbow fan and like extraction here and there.... Just wish it had more cfm/water lift for even faster drying time. I'm big on spending a little more time pulling out all the moisture possible .....before I set up a box fan , all to reduce the drying time needed that we have to stay off it. I've been happy with the results ( Note: GOOP....that is used for cleaning hands after working on cars etc, does amazing good on clothes and carpeting for wine/grease and other challenging to remove stuff....and it's CHEAP )

I have a Rug Doctor Deep Carpet Cleaner that works great. It's got extremely powerful suction so the carpets dry very quickly.

I've also got a DuPray Neat Steamer that I run over the carpets every few weeks to remove allergens and surface dirt the vacuum may leave.

carpet cleaner

Rather than starting a new thread, I thought I would just add my question to this one. I'm thinking of getting a carpet cleaner for my girl friend for her birthday, she has 3 cats so I need something that is good for that. Here are the ones I was thinking about, does anyone have any experience with these?
First there is the Bissell Big Green, I thought this was a canister model but I guess there is an upright one now too.

Then there is the Bissell Pro Heat Revolution

And finally there is the Hoover Automatic Wash, this one does not have a button to release the solution but does it automatically.

Look at Rug Doctor. I’ve got the Rug Doctor Deep Carpet Cleaner and it’s by far the best machine I’ve used. They’re going for $274 on their website but may be cheaper at BestBuy or Amazon.

i'm using my ridgid wd0670 or workshop ws0915va with shop vac steam team carpet, bare floor & upholstery shampooing extraction kit

i upgraded the original plastic wands to the stainless steel rainbow wand

the only downside is connecting the water supply hose onto a faucet & no powered brush (i have a kenmore spraymate but no more belts) it uses flat belt

that is the same setup i used when my basement flooded when the portage branch river flooded
