What brand or type of bags do you prefer?

In my Hoover Constellation and Slimline I use a pack of genuine Hoover J bags that I got from a thrift store. It says 1985 on the package. I also have some generic DVC bags but haven't used these.

For my Eureka 1934A I use the Arm & Hammer F&G bags. I really like these, they seem to filter well and don't smell for a long time. I would be hesitant to use these in a canister or clean air upright, because I'm not sure whether the Arm & Hammer powder could get sucked into the motor.

On my Kenmore canisters I've been using the genuine C/5055 allergen bags. I liked the yellow colored paper, but when they switched to the white paper a few years ago I haven't liked these as much. They seem thinner and I just changed the bag the other day and noticed it was very dusty looking.

Being as we're down to our last package of bags we got before Sears closed, I went ahead and ordered some Kenmore Q HEPA cloth bags on eBay. Price was a lot cheaper than Sears and hopefully these should work better. I have a Kenmore cloth HEPA bag in my Kenmore upright and I have been pleased so far, so hopefully the canister ones work well.

I have seen the VEVA cloth bags on eBay and heard good things about these, but they don't seem as prevalent as they were last year.

For my Hoover Celebrity I got some genuine H bags on eBay. They are in the newer black and white packaging but the bags are still green. Hopefully these will work well.

I've noticed locally, my Lowes and Walmart sell the Febreeze bags. Haven't tried these but I did get some for a Bissell upright I have. Heard these filter well for what they are. Very few styles available though, mostly Hoover A, Kenmore C/5055, Electrolux C and S, Bissell Style 7, and well, that's about it.

The only place I've seen genuine bags locally is at ACE Hardware. They sell genuine Hoover bags and I think Eureka too. Prices are a bit high, but not that much higher than Lowes.

But, as per the owner's manuals, I use only genuine Hoover bags in all my machines.
I DO have a small supply of "bojacks".. that come with ebay buys, or thrift store. I have them for people who use them.

I always like to use OEM bags. I prefer cloth hepa bags if they are available. Sometimes with older machines or uncommon ones you have to bojack the bags a bit.

Has a quality yellow paper replacement for type C. I got 30/$12 I think it was a return. They also have hepa type C bags that are priced well.

I always prefer to go over to a local vacuum store and get genuine bags.

I'm a cheapskate...

...so I use whatever generics cost the least in bulk. I use Envirocare bags for my Kirbys and I can't really tell a difference between those and the Kirby Generation 3 bags that I just ran out of. Likewise with the Multifilter C and U bags I use with my Electrolux machines. No real difference between those and the genuine Electrolux bags—other than the price, of course. The F&G conversion kit I got for my Sanitaire came with a generous supply of generic F&G bags that seem to work fine but I haven't used any others so I have nothing with which to compare them.

All that said, I have never used a HEPA bag, even though there was one in my Kirby Sentria when I got it. Per my standard practice, I tossed it immediately. The only time I have not done that was this past summer when I got an Electrolux upright that amazingly had a brand new, unused bag in it.

perfect pc-1?

Does anyone know if Perfect brand pc-1 type C bag work on a Model G? The seller lists newer Electrolux models but.....I don't know Electrolux's well enough to determine.

They should work in any machine that takes type C bags. That said, the only compatibility issue I've heard about is using the OEM style paper bags in a Perfect canister because those machines are powerful enough that they can burst the paper bags. Mind you, this is only hearsay as I have never even seen a Perfect canister in the flesh, much less witnessed one in action.

Prefer OEM

I usually prefer the OEM bags, if the manufacturers got a patent they can’t be identically copied so likely generics are not as good. I’ve run into generic bags with the liners in them that the liners tend to not stay in place and delaminates from the main bag walls, has happened on generics for a Electrolux c bags as well as generic Kenmore 5055, 50558 or “Q” canister bags. I’ve also ended up with generic bags that say they are 4 ply on the package but are actually stuffed with 2 ply bags. This was by home care products and I bought at Dollar tree.

Cloth HEPA type bags, even if I have to get creative to get the bag collar crammed in there. Its really due to my terrible allergies. Some other collectors have complained to me about how this sort of a thing was stupid, but I explained to him that for many of us, its about being about to use the machine and not have a histamine reaction from hell.
