What BRAND NEW vacuum do you want?

Numatic George

I had a George but I sold it after a few months. I really only wanted it for above floor cleaning, for the stairs, upholstery and car interior as the suction on it is far greater than the hose you get with many upright carpet washers. I found it very effective with the small wash tool but didn't bother using it for carpet cleaning as it would be hard work. I used the floor washing tool a couple of times but because it's awkward to set up, I can't see anyone using the George to regularly wash floors. There is quite a lot to store away too, with the two hoses and solution tank. An upright carpet washer with a hose has the same downsides as an upright vacuum with a hose. They tend to be easier to use on carpets but awkward when using the hose and the suction isn't always great. The best solution if you have the space and money is get an upright carpet washer for the carpets and a tank type 3 in 1 for everything else.

Currently I only have a Vax Oasis complete which is the nearest I could get to the Hoover Brush N Wash that we had for many years. I find it very effective on carpets and it does extract most of the water meaning the carpet dries in less than two hours. It is very noisy though. I also have a Bissell Spot Bot which is used for occasional spillages but it leaves the carpet quite wet when using the auto setting so I tend to go over the cleaned area with the hose which rather defeats the object of having an automated cleaning function.

Regarding new vacuums, I would like a Sebo K3 Premium, or a C2 Total if I can find one. I have just purchased a Sebo Professional G upright from Ebay de but it hasn't arrived yet. I have owned a Sebo X4, X1.1 in white/grey and red/grey and an Ensign Sleath, all from brand new but all were sold as I kept forgetting how annoying the auto height function is on all these models. The brush always seemed to set itself too high and I was constantly raising the cleaning head off the carpet until the wheel adjusted itself to the lowest setting. I would then have a few precious seconds of decent cleaning before the brush would be lifted off the carpet. I'm hoping that the G model with its manual height setting will perform better as I will be able to select the height I want rather than the on board computer.

I am currently in my Sebo phase again so most of the new vacs I want are Sebo's. I would also like a D4 Premium and a Felix Rosso.

I've been toying with the idea of upgrading from my Kirby Ultimate G to a Sentria G10E...

Is there any point though?? Am I going to gain anything?? Or am I just throwing money away.....

Like the idea of one of those GTech AirRams though... I'll blame PaulC for that.. I hadn't seen one of those until I saw the link posted above.. LOL

Yep!

Hi Dickie.
Hope your ok. Yep I would go and get a Sentria or Ultimate G.
Dispite some naysayers there great machines. Proformance has increased and filteration as well as other things. I'm sure you will get one at a great price if you keep your eyes peeled. Keep the other Kirby's tho there great as well as you know. Just make sure you get the other Kirby's your missing. It's always good to have a choice;o)

Then you can start on other vacs you like...Hope you got a big house;o)

I have both

The Ultimate G Diamond Edition and a complete Sentria.  Personally, I think the Sentria is a step backwards from the Ultimate G DE.  The reason I say this is because the UG DE introduced a switch that reduces  the motor speed for vacuuming delicate carpeting, etc.  This in effect made it a four speed machine. This was removed from the Sentria.  I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time) but I think it was removed because people left it in the low speed setting when vacuuming regular carpeting, and that lead to burn out of the motor.  They are both, in my opinion, great machines, but if I could only keep one, I think I would keep the Ultimate G DE.

I will put it this way , I have both in my collection and the ultimate g just feels better made, it looks better too.

There has to be a reason that my back room is filled with sentria trade inns and not ultimate g's or other Kirby models. If I look on ebay here in SA or gumtree all you see are sentria's for sale , Got to ask the question why ?

Well Gary,

The normal Kirby is a two speed machine.  Speed is determined by the attachment mounted on the front (High for canister mode, low for everything else).  When the switch on the UG DE is set to low,  then I believe the attachment switch on the front of the machine would operate at the lower power providing lower speeds for tools and rug nozzle, etc.  At least that is the way it was explained to me when I questioned it.  I could be wrong.  If I am, I would certainly appreciate it if someone would set me straight.

Hey Gary,

I've fired off an email to Kirby inquiring about it.  It'll be interesting to see what they respond with, that is if they respond..  Let's see if they answer.  With all the info they wanted to submit a question, I bet I'll be getting a visit from the local Kirby dealer real soon.

This one is easy for me since I seem to prefer contemporary over vintage.....

Sebo X4/5, Meile S7, the new Rainbow, Electrolux Ultra Silencer deep clean canister, Hoover Flair

Question on a note, will a simplicity syncronys'/riccar brilliances' brushroll fit a simplicty synergy/riccar radiance? That will help me personally decide between the syncrony or the synergy. I'd also get a royal everlast metal upright model mry8300.

Kirby generation speeds

There was also a little known and rarely seen option for Generations that was a hose end on which the tab that pushes 2 speed switch on front could be moved up & down to choose hi or lo for hose cleaning. So would this make it a 5 speed or 6 speed?!?

I'vw been Naughty........

Well... Further to my comment earlier in this thread. As its the Queens Diamond Jubilee here in the UK, I thought this Queen deserved a gift too....

Its a 2008 Model I picked up for a snip of a price.. This has been virtually unused and the previous owners (once they said, and I can believe it. No wear on the brush roll at all and totally clean). They even treated themselves to a brand new Zip Brush earlier this year and didn't even use it. Even has 2 hoses and the Handy Butler (Unsealed)..

I'm a happy bunny.... Happy Diamond Jubilee to Me!!!!
