Welcome to the Forum! I used to live in Durham, NC. When I lived there, I would make occasional trips to Wake Forest t shop at a used book store there. Wake Forest is a nice town.

Bet your Durham hasn't got a Cathedral and castle like our Durham... :P

I used to live near Durham, small world, sort of... :P

Hi David! I've often wondered how bizarre it must be for someone from the UK to visit North America - so many place names have been duplicated here:
British Columbia
York Region in Ontario
Peterborough
New York
Waterloo
Cornwall
Windsor
Scarborough
Stratford
Welland
etc....

Well, the people who colonised the north american continent mostly came from England, Scotland and Ireland, Nova Scotia in Canada is actually latin (I think) for "New Scotland", of course, there were other European colonists that moved over there too, but, yeah, a lot of place names came from jolly old Great Britain... :D

Heck, even the name Kirby is from here.... :D

(though probably derived from Kirkby, which has a silent K in the middle there)

@ David

Actually Durham, North Carolina does have Duke Chapel. "Chapel" is a misnomer, because it seats 2200 people. Duke Chapel is the centerpiece of Duke University.

No structure can be built on campus that will obstruct a view of the Chapel Tower. I've been in numerous Cathedrals throughout England. Duke Chapel is equally impressive. I guess I'm a little partial, since I'm a Duke graduate! LOL!

It's a nice looking building, but, in comparison to Durham Cathedral, it's a little shed... :P

I would go picture hunting, but I've got Firefox on an image diet cos I'm saving my mobile broadband allowance, which is almost gone.... :S
