What A Conplete Marketing Fail!

Well, for a very long time 18 volt Lithium-ion batteries were $100ea to replace. The idea with Makita, Dewalt and the rest was that once the batteries failed, the end user would see how much the batteries were and just go buy a whole new drill set. Wastefully stupid with no respect to the end user of environ. Eventually, 'aftermarket' Lithium-ion batteries came out at about $50ea. They work OK, but the plastic they use for the battery case expands like crazy when heated and they are very hard to release from your drill. All kinds of snake oil people who say they can renew your old batteries...doesn't work for pro use.

And then the box stores aren't doing you any favors either. In almost all the companies there is a pro line....that's what I buy. But when I go into somewhere like HD they have rechargeable drills that look very similar to mine, but they're are not at all the same quality (or price). They want you to 'feel' you're getting a pro drill for a great price, even though you're are not.

18V DeWalt batteries--Use their new 20V Lithium ones-you can get adaptors to fit the new 20V batteries to the older 18V machine-I did this-works GREAT!and the newer batteries are LIGHTER than the older 18V ones.
