Those are awesome Kenmroe Twin Fans...

Pete,

Your machines look great. I wonder, did either of them have headlights. I know that some did and some did not of course, but I have no clue what the diferences are between the models from the US and Can.

Your green one looks to be mid to late 70's(1975-76-77), and the blue one of course from late 70's.(1978). Or were the colors there different from the years when we had them?

Great shots of you vac's.!!!

I think

I have the Hoover made p/n schematics at my parent's in a Singer parts catalog.
I'm going there for dinner tonight so I will look

Chad, some of the Sears twin fans did have headlights. I have a beige wide sweep, two speeder with light. It's in pieces at the moment so can't show a picture. As far as I know the Cdn models debuted at the same time as the US

MY GOD ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!

Was this machine that your reffering to the "Wide Track" Twin Fan model that was only produced for like a minute and a half in response to Eureka's VibraGroomer Wide Track models or Montgomery Wards WideStroke Multi-Beat?

I know that one was made as PowrFlite used to offer it commercially before Bissell pulled the plug on the old Twin Fan design. It was either 16 or 17 inches wide.

Did they make a home version???

Do I rememebr correctly OR, am I excited over something I misunderstood by your post??

Chad

I kinda figured that the Cdn models debuted at the same time as the US machines, but I wasn't sure. My 1978 Simpson-Sears catlog was lost, amongst other things in our dryer fire long ago. I never have found another...

Chad,

I think the model Pete is referring to is a standard 12" model, just with the fancy edge cleaners and high performance chasssis.
Think Kenmore self propelled from the early 80's...made by Singer/Ryobi.

I was tired...

Ah yes, now that I'm not half asleep and delirious, I get what your saying.

For a minute I was super hopeful tho....

Singer Systems at Target

Memories of these vacuums at Target are slowly coming back to me.

Target had the green trimmed Singer System upright. I also remember stacks of Singer upright attachment sets high up on the top shelves.

I got to thinking about the canister that was sold at Target. The body and powernozzle were the same as Fred's machine but the hose was a grey electric rubber/vinyl but the curved wand was grey plastic. The wands were metal. I always thought, why not make the whole wand system metal? I seem to recall a price of $149.00.

This was in the early 80's and i was just starting my nursing career and was making better money than my previous job (McDonalds,LOL)so $149.00 didn't sound like a lot of money to me. I wanted a canister but for some reason I never bought a Singer System. Wah!

Here's a story that makes me want to kick myself now. I was in a thrift store and there was a grey Singer System canister and PN. I didn't get it because it didn't have the correct Singer PN. It had a Hoover made PN badged Singer! So I didn't get the vacuum because I thought it was an imposter! Stooopid!!!

Jeff, Thanks for the scan of the Singer vacuums! I love Singer vacuums! Still can't find the elusive model C 10 though!
