The Roll Easy came first,about 1955.The WH was about 58-60 with 2 different colors.I think green was first,then brown.The WH version had deluxe,unique attachments that seem to be missing on the above vac.They were always rare compared to standard WH models and even more so today!

Westinghouse

After the 1960's, Westinghouse appliances became all lower end.
A collector on automatic washer.org has a 1963 Westinghouse Terrace top electric range. Kevin313. In fact, he also has a you tube channel called cavalcade of food.
By 1983, Westinghouse had become White Consolidated, absorbing also the Canadian
Frigidaire division from General Motors, and the Admiral line of refrigerators.
Now owned by AB Electrolux of Sweden.

I think

WCI took over the WH appliance division in 75, Frigidaire in late 79 or early 80.I do know they also took over Kelvinator in 68.Sad ending to 3 good appliance companies.

Indeed, White Consolidated Industries bought the major appliance division of Westinghouse in 1975. And WCI was in turn bought by Sweden's AB Electrolux in 1986. Electrolux at some point added a special line of Eureka vacuums to their White-Westinghouse major appliance product line-up - there were White-Westinghouse Powerline uprights, Bravos and Mighty-Mite canisters.

Yes, the 1975 date is correct. I worked at the former Mansfield, OH Westinghouse plant in 1977. By that time, WCI had indeed taken over, the plant was renamed Mansfield Products Division, White Consolidated Industries, and the appliances were called White-Westinghouse. The only appliances made there when I worked there were washers, dryers, and ranges. Refrigerators were moved to the Columbus plant in the 1950's, and the small appliances that had been made there (percolators, frypans, irons, and the ever-famous Westinghouse roaster) were sold to Hamilton Beach Scovill in 1968 if I remember right.
Interesting to note, electric fans and vacuum cleaners were never made in Mansfield, but in another plant in Springfield, MA. Also if I remember right, their vacuum cleaner line was discontinued in the late 60's or early 70's.
Here are my Westinghouse vacs, the F1-46 upright, H-10 hand vac,and SC-1 canister. And remember, you can be SURE...if it's Westinghouse!

Glad you enjoyed it! It was a pretty good place to work back when I was there, and even better many years before. At one time they had teams for any sport you can think of, a drama troupe, and their own company band and orchestra. They had a full service cafeteria that sold delicious meals at reasonable prices, especially the perch they had every Friday. They also had a company store where employees could buy those great Westinghouse appliances at half retail. Most of this was gone by the time I worked there. The cafeteria was still there, that's how I know about the perch. And the employee discount when I worked there only amounted to 10% off at a local dealer.
Before WCI took over there was a gigantic sign on the east side of the building with the company slogan on it and Westinghouse in especially large letters. If I remember right, it was shut off soon after WCI took over, and taken down not long after. When we would travel east, northeast, or southeast from town, seeing "you can be SURE...if it's Westinghouse" always meant we were almost home!

It's so sad that all these factories are now gone. It's no wonder North America has been in a depressing death-march recession for most of my adult life.

Can't figure out how Germany kept all their manufacturing plants at home. I'm no economist, but the closure of all these North American factories should have caused our leadership to help keep them at home...or help our work force retrain for some new industries.
