Westinghouse/Eureka

I have a question from another Vacuumland member who can't get on his computer right now. Jason Huber wanted to know about the Westinghouse upright that was made just like the Eureka Brovo II with the 12 amp motor. It seems to be a more deluxe model and takes tupe U bags like the Eureka and has a bag cage that snaps over the bag behind the bag door, like the deluxe Eureka Powerline had. So the questions are what info do you know about the westinghouse and what was the deal with the bag cage on the Eureka?

Westinghouse and Eureka

I started a thread some time ago about Eureka vacs labelled as "White Westinghouse". Not quite sure how to do a search for old threads.

But here is a little background that kind of summarizes what was written in that thread: When Sweden's Electrolux bought up White Consolidated Industries (no relation to Consolidated Foods), they took ownership of all the divisions and brand names owned by that US company. White Consolidated made several lines of major appliances (refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, washers and dryers), including Westinghouse and White. As we all know, Sweden's Electrolux company also bought the Eureka Williams Company in 1974. So at some point in the early 1990's, this multinational appliance maker decided to try and market some Eureka vacs with the White-Westinghouse label. There were some hard-cover Bravo uprights, and even a little White Westinghouse Mighty Mite, if I recall correctly.

I guess the "bag cage" you are referring to helped maintain air flow around the paper dust bag as the bag filled. Just a guess though....

since i can get a comuter .....

i thoyght id say its jus like the earley direct air powerline that was red it has the same upper body but a diffrent flatter ulgy head. got it free from wrok cause ive neever seen one. is it a good find?

The "Bravo/Powerline" series of direct-air, fan-first uprights are very good on carpeting. I was never that impressed with the tool suction through the hose - for some reason, it's pretty weak.

So if this is going to be used only for rugs, you've got yourself a master carpet cleaner. But wear ear-plugs! This thing is as noisy as a 747 Jumbo Jet!

Yees, the White Westinghouse Designer Art Edition. I know they made a few colors, I used to have a gray and tan one, but I took it back to the Vac shop, WAY TO LOUD.
