Well of course..

I am of course, very keen on the Royal all metal soft bag uprights, particulary one from the 70s or 80s. or perhaps an older Royal canister.. lol there's so much to choose from.

Seen anything of mine you like? maybe you can tell me if you've got any vacs you're willing to trade :]

Well, Royals are very nice, but I sold the only royal upright that I had. It was far too loud with it's 7 amp motor. Royals of the style you like are fairly easy to aquire here so you can find one from someone easy enough. I had planed on getting another one sometime but they are common enough to put on my "things to get later cause they're not going anywhere" list.

Really my collection is so small anyway that I have very little to trade as most everything was bought with a specific reason and won't be traded. I'm sure someone else with a larger collection would jump at the oportunity to get a nice vacuum from England.

Oh, by the way, your collection looks very nice. Do you have any Electrolux cylinder cleaners? I think if you have any of those you could really interest some of us Lux people. They are so different than ours, yet they have key simmilarities.

Lastly, have you considered how to get vacuums across the Atlantic in an economical way. Thats your biggest problem when it comes to international vacuum trading. Makes the whole 220v issue sound quite painless when you have to sell your internal organs just to pay for the shipping fees!

Yes, but the point is to get a US machine. I'm sure that there are many US members that like the looks of UK Lux uprights. I don't think that is the real issue.

If you took shipping out of the equasion you (and every other UK collector) would have about 100 people all wanting to make a trade. The shipping is just a real pain when it comes to price, and it is the one major problem with the concept of international vacuum trading. As you know, in the end it all comes down to money. Money can put an end to a fun concept in a real hurry. We have all been there at some point.

You have some very nice machines in your collection, and in England in general, but I think for the most part they are trapped there. Too bad really.

This is prob a bit out of date(I believe the US post office have had a change to their services/pricing recently but here goes....

My two Convertibles came seperately by USPS airmail- give or take a few $$ they were about $85 to ship(£43.50 odd) and took just over a week to arrive.

If you ever get to send a vac to the US dont even consider Parcelforce - to say they are expensive would be polite lol!.

I currently have a couple of boxes to go as it were- see the link for the courrier I intend using

Canada post doesn't accept very large parcels anymore, nothing bigger than a breadbox really. And UPS and FedEX rates seem to have skyrocketed this last year. Makes shipping overseas very expensive. Even between Canada and the US the rate is near double the US domestic rate now.
