WOW,,that is an excellent deal! Looks like a nice machine. I have always loved Filter Queen vacs. An elderly neighbor lady had one when i was a kid, and she would let me come over and use it anytime i wanted to. She knew she would get her vacuuming done for free! lol
Hers was one of the older, pink models from the 1960s, early 70s, and did not have the PN, but i remember how quiet the machine was, and the incredible suction.
My only gripe with the modern day FQ is the power Nozzle. Just not very agressive, but is OK on low/no pile carpets. Of course a new brush roll, and new belt will always help.
I keep a FQ in my laundry room for cleaning out the dryer, and often use it to clean out the garage and car. And/or to grab for a quick clean up here and there.
They really are an excellent vacuum cleaner, with all of the sealed connections and metal attachments.

I found a similar Queen this summer. Mine was a bit cheaper, free. No instructions, but came with a full bottle of 25+ year old carpet shampoo and all the tools.
I thought the brown Filter Queens were from the early 70's? I would have never guessed they were from the 80's?
If you use the inflation calculator, your vacuum in 1984 that cost $730.45, in today's money would cost $1512.69, give or take a few bucks. The inflation calculator only goes up to the year 2010.

Great deal for 15 bucks. Not much outsucks a FQ when Davy was using his gauge on all the different brands. My sis had one years ago, doubtful they got it new, very doubtful, but she gave it away and regrets it.. My next door neighbor gave his away as well quite a few years ago he says.. and regrets it. I've one down here in the basement somewhere I haven't laid eyes on in quite awhile it's back o the pile.. I can't even remember if it's the same model as that.. lol

My grandma has one just like it that she ought new in 1980-81 ( dont know the year for shure) which replaced her kirby tradition. I've used it several times it still runs good.

wonderful find, I don't care what anyone says, when you get one of these thats working properly there isn't hardly anything on the market that has as much suction as one of these except maybe a Royal Powertank.

I'm confused on the statements of how much suction and the great cleaning Filter Queens have?
A house cleaning client of mine had a Majestic Triple Crown and it was very quiet but the airflow I didn't feel was very good. Covering your hand over the end of the hose, the suction had good pull, but cupping your hand around the opening as a way to test CFM's there was very little. With the bare floor attachment, it would push small stones around. I was always replacing exhaust filter, checking the bin to ensure it wasn't full and the filter cone was in good shape. We kept the speed switch set to high. Also every month I had to change the belt, it stretched quite noticably over a months time and it was only used on occasion for small area rugs.
Due to the problems I had with it, I usually ended up attaching an extension hose to our Hoover Windtunnel Supreme and using it, or I would use a Eureka Might Mite canister. Some days I even brought my Hoover PowerMax Deluxe canister. My Hoover PowerMax Deluxe ran circles around that Filter Queen. I would run the Filter Queen it would push dirt around, so I tried my PowerMax and the dirt was gone in 1 pass on the bare floors. I was highly unimpressed with Filter Queen and so to this day, I am dumbfounded by experience of others.
Just for info, my client is practically a neat freak. The place doesn't look too bad before I even start working. They take care of everything when there is a problem. The Filter Queen motor sounded fine, no squeaks, rumbles extra noises with shut down, all of the filters I was aware of were kept clean. So it was deemed that the machine was in full working order.

She ended up getting rid of the Filter Queen, but I did check that filter too!! The power nozzle motor died, she had it replaced, then the suction unit had an issue she got that fixed, it broke again and she had enough sinking money into it.
I wasn't here for any of that, but I heard. Long story summed up:
I live just outside of State College and worked for these people while going to college. Then I graduated and moved away in January 2006. Well in November 2010, I moved back to the area and actually live with them now. We've remained in contact and I became kind of "extended family."
So sometime between January '06 and November 2010 the Filter Queen had lots of issues. However the cleaning lady that took over when I left was a vacuum abuser. I returned to both the Filter Queen, and Windtunnel Supreme broken and no longer here, one of the Central vacuum power nozzles completely nonfunctional and a Eureka Widetrack Boss lightweight vacuum broken. The other cleaning lady liked to run agitator vacs on bare floors and suction only vacs on carpet, talk about backwards!!!!!! Everything was a mess here!! The workshop building had a Kirby G4 which she thought was too heavy so she wasn't using that at all, so the carpets here weren't getting ANY agitation, just a quick go over with a crappy newer style Eureka Rally canister which broke and I got rid of. Granted the rugs here are very low profile, but in my book, all carpets must recieve an agitator!!!!!!!!!! I'm not a fan of the G4 either but I used it so the place would be clean. When the Eureka Mighty Mite died which the cleaning lady never used so at least that was still here when I returned, I replaced it with the Riccar 1700 power head canister vac, which is posted in another thread on here. This solved all of my problems for the workshop building, until the recent hose break.

My goodness-sounds like those janitorial people are doing more HARM than good!Show them the door and tell them not to come back.And insist that the cleaning staff bring their OWN equipment so they don't abuse yours!Generally,cleaning staff members won't abuse THEIR OWN equipment THEY had to pay for.
