So i picked up a 2008 edition Filter magic a while back and just yesterday i opened it up to see what kind of motor it had and discovered it had a flow-through. Due to their ability to pick up water i assumed, similar to the fairfax and silver king, that they used a Peripheral bypass.

So now i'm curious do the older models also use a flow through motor?

Okay

Thanks for the info Hans. Are they a pretty long lived vacuum or do they tend to have shorter lives? I was never too worried about it when i thought it had a bypass but now that i'm aware of the flow through motor i'm a little paranoid about keeping it cleaned out so it doesn't overheat.

Dont worry

About all older machines use a flo thru motor, They are pretty much eternal unless you really abuse them, Remember all Electroluxes, Eurekas Hoovers and Compacts as well as many others used flo thru motors.

.

Usually flow through motors don't bother me but with it using flat filters with so little surface area= 78.5, for comparison the tristar's bag is about 250 and moves a lot more air than the Filter magic does. So i guess my worries were just due to that. However, i will trust your experience(s) with them, and not worry about it. i do enjoy a decent "tub style" vacuum.
