I bought one
I have a like for the unique and different looking vacuums, this one checked off that box. It was delivered yesterday. I love ebay. I got a good price <$100, NIB, the box was damaged, the machine is in perfect condition.
Here are my observations after using it one time:
Not a bad machine, I have definitely seen worse costing more. I will say when assembling, which was very easy, just snap the handle in place and insert one screw. The plastic felt very thin and flimsy. I don't want to use the word cheap, because it appears to be a well engineered machine, I just don't see it as heirloom quality that will be passed down generations.
Initial observations include a nice long cord 35', good array of attachments including a air driven nozzle; which all but the dusting brush ride onboard. There is a diverter valve that is manually switched where suction can be routed to the above the floor hose and tools, or to the floor nozzle. I actually like this arrangement. Rather than having the suction travel through a very long air path like some of the similar looking machines, the diverter allows for a shorter path for the floor cleaning.
Weight of the machine will be a disappointment for the perpetually weak users. Much like my Hoover React this is a 18+ pound machine. Like the react, and the Shark Navigator as well as other look a likes a great deal of the weight is on the handle when in the leaned back in use position. This is not a lift-off machine, everything remains attached, except the hose when using hose mode.
Lets talk a minute about those wheels. They are big, again rather flimsy, but do a nice job supporting the machine. With the Swivel neck, which seems very well engineered and built, the machine maneuvers much like the ball system with Dyson.
There is an on/off switch for the brush roll, but it is not automatic adjusting as with the React. The dust bin is large, and I actually like the cyclone and filter set up better than others. The Floorrover has the bin separator like most bagless machines, then there is a foam filter above the cyclones, the pre-motor filter sits above the foam filter and then the air path flows to the motor in the base. Then there is a rather large HEPA after filter before final exhaust.
So how does it perform. I was actually very happy with the results. I see this as being a viable alternative to the Sharks and other copies out there. It does have a five year warranty, which I highly suspect would need to be accessed during ownership. My first impression is a thumbs up.
