Wanted: Advice on How to Clean the Outside of a Woven Hose

I'd like to know what you use to clean the outside of a woven hose. I have some Electrolux ones that are grayer than others, so I tried using dishwater (with Dawn soap) and a rag but didn't see much, if any, improvement.

I have used upholstery cleaner with a brush also some all purpose cleaner & had some surprising results. I haven't tried all purpose with bleach mainly because I haven't gotten any hose that dirty yet.

Thanks, Mark. I thought maybe diluted laundry detergent might do the trick, too.
