The good thing is there are a lot of amazing people with amazing collections, opening another is not a big ordeal and can be easily achieved if the official one closes down. I keep seeing lots of random blog posts and stuff on Facebook from tourists about the museum, so it looks like it has enough patrons to see it.
If I would have inherited my aunt's farm I could have had my own museum I'd bet with the 1930's grocery store abandoned on the property. But I'm sure anyone with a big barn could do the same.
I'm not sure how good it is or what they have, but there's another museum in Portland called Stark's too.
